H1-Y Activities of the Hi-Y this year have been civic as well as social. The club has aimed to serve both the community and the school. Last fall the boys passed out literature to persuade the people of Amherst to vote for the school tax levy. During the basketball season the club issued programs, sold candy, and announced the games. At Christmas they painted religious pictures on some of the school windows and collected books for the library at Pleasant View Sanatorium. Student Councll l..i'l Abner Day was an innovation at A. H. S. this year. The Student Council was responsible for that gala occasion. The student governing body also took charge of arrangements for the Defense Bond and Stamp Day in the fall.
