2 ff i ,n EDITORI L. HE OLIO of '85 appears as a new departure in the field of Amherst Journalism. Its Editors have left the beaten track of their predecessors, and have made a new way for themselves, a far more difficult way it is to tread, but the fairer prospect and the purer air more than repay the toil of climbing. The peculiar circumstances under which this OLIO appears, have deprived us of perhaps valuable assistance and have rendered the conception and execution of the work peculiarly our own. Yet we trust it will truly accord. with the better taste of the College. We have striven to make it an OLIO- worthy of our College and of our Glass. We have added much to render it- more attractive and worthy of preservation. We have omitted all that would Wound any one, and where we have touched on some pet folly it is but- kindly done. t Our work, is at length iinished and we gladly lay it aside.
