Won 5 HOCKEY Lost 9 RECORD Reading Beverly Salem Swampscott Gloucester Marblehead Lynn English Peabody Woburn St. Mary's Lynn Classical Saugus Winchester St. John's Danvers Tied 1 The 1959 Amesbury High School Hockey team had a disappointing season with a record of five wins, nine losses, and one tie under the guidance of Coach Albert J. Roy. At the Jamboree, Amesbury tied Reading with a score of two to two. The team then won the next two games against Beverly and Salem, but lost to Swampscott and Glou- cester. In the games against Lynn Classical and St. Mary's we lost by only one point, which was very disap- pointing. This was the way it went all season as the team fought hard in all their games only to succumb to many of their stronger opponents. Ii. - i if .1 The team was without their cap- tain and first line center, Norman Parent, the better part of the season because of an injury suffered during a practice session. At the annual banquet Captain Parent announced that John Gilday was captain -elect for the 1959-60 season. Gilday was also the recipient of the Most Valuable Player Trophy. A Junior, Joseph O'Keefe, was a- warded the Rookie of the Year Tro- phy, which is given in memory of the former Dr. Robert E. Blais. FRESHMAN HOCKEY TEAM Front row, J. Burke, G.
