the Fine Arts Wing, wherever room was available. On Friday mornings practice was held in the gym to prepare for upcoming performances. One of the highlights of the year occurred in May when the Drill Team performed with the marching band. They participated in the annual VEISHEA parade at ISU. Senior Erin Cross was pleased with the year, but commented, “In the future | think there should be less of a drill and more of a dance routine with both girls and guys involved in the performance. It would add more of a variety to the routine. he Drill Team provided entertainment for the crowd at boys’ and girls’ home basketball games during halftime. The girls were required to tryout for Drill Team. Everyone interested in trying out learned the same drill, then they performed it with a partner and were judged by sponsor Mary Kautzcy. The team consisted mostly of sophomores and seniors. Kautzcy commented, “Of the 25 girls that began the season, 20 completed it. They worked hard, and | noticed a lot of improvement in all of the girls.” The Drill Team wore uniforms provided by the school. They were required to pay 2 small rental fee for the orange jumpsuits and black shirts. Senior Chris Catus said, “I really enjoyed Drill Team because | got to meet people | wouldn't have otherwise. Practice for Drill Team was held during 8th period every day and on Friday mornings during the season.
