IVETA HAIABPIIIFS Secretary-Treasurer . . . MARJORIE GRIFFITH Social Chfzirmen MARY THOMPSON, ICVELYN REINBERGER HIC Library Club was organized in 1935 by Miss Ada Wood who sponsored it until her resignation froln Ames High in the second semester of 1937. She was succeeded by Mrs. Lucile Gibb for the remainder of that year. The next. fall Miss Bonita Danlnian took charge of the club for the year 1937-38. She resigned in 1938 and Mrs. Gibb returned to the club. Library Club, during the school year 1938-39, had complete charge of all library work. lflaeh ineinbcr of the club was required to work at least two periods a week in the library. Instruction sheets were given to the new xneinbers when they entered the club: these were studied and very soon the student librarian became efficient in reading shelves, tiling and checking out reference material and books, and in caring: for the nulnerous other duties connected with the school library. tt Work and no play IIHLKO a librarian a dull person, so to remedy this evil, the club entertained at several social functions during the school year. The girls enjoyed themselves at an afternoon tea, played games at all the gatherings, and hilariously t'grabbed for the white elephant presents at the Yuletidc Party of the club. The inain purpose of Library Club is to give library training and to create a wider and better knowledge of books. ELEANOR BICELYEA, '39 TXVHNTY-'TIIREE
