LA LEYENDA
1968
THE AMERICAN SCHOOL A C
Guadalaiara, Jalis
Mexico
There is something in the parting hour
Will chill the warmest heart,
Yet kindred, comrades, lovers, friends
Are all fated to part.
The one who goes is happier
Than those he leaves behind.
POLLOCK
We have reached the finale again. We are at the end of another year, which most of us
can remember with a smile and maybe an occasional laugh.
We can leaf through these pages and recall the many moments that formed the year.
We can recall the experiences that contributed to our now larger reservoir of knowledge.
Some of us look back and promise we will not forget these halls, these playgrounds, no
matter how far away we go.
Some of us promise to try harder in the years to come, to make ourselves worthy of our
school.
Others look back and realize that not only did they teach - but that they learned.
Some will look back and find that not only did they direct - but that they were part
of what they directed.
We will always have our silhouette of memories, and they will always run together and
get confused: but we can look back to these pages and identify those memories.
rias.

Few teachers have earned such profound res ect from th A S

MR. H, E. HOLMDOHL, Director
It has been the custom to give an overall title to each edition of 'La Leyenda'. Usually,
this is not difficult for the theme of each yearbook seems to develop with the articles that are
written, the outlines and sketches that are produced and the image that the yearbook staff
wishes to create. At times there is the situation where the materials chosen because of their
merit do not, when assembled, reveal a clear common motif. Certainly this is not the case
in the preparation of this fine edition.
The title 'SILHOUETTES' is perfect. Congratulations to all members of the yearbook
staff of 1968.
LIC. JOSE TREIO, Sub-Director

I don't think anyone could imagine the closeness the Junior Class has had. We're
like one happy family, sharing each others' problems as well as fun. Somehow we've
managed to finagle ourselves through this year. The friends we've made at the Amer-
ican School are sure to be lasting ones. BOING!

THE
FRESHMEN
Yeh, and then what happened?
Look! It's a war between the red ants
and the black ants!
The Freshman Class of '68 can truly say
that this has been a great year in spite of
those study contracts and all that admiration
showed on us by our "loving" upper class-
men. We can hardly wait to attain that
coveted status of Sophomore. Many of us
took active parts ,in sports, choir, and
cheerleading. Some of the highlights of
the year have been the Christmas and
Halloween parties and the semester finals.
After we pass on to higher levels of education
things like the notes on the desks will be
the sole remainders of a truly memorable
year. Thank-you teachers, administration,
and oh yes, upperclassmen for making it
possible.

Ivonne y Henri Audirac, Fedro Zazueta, Guillermo Martin, Gilberto Jamshyd y Alicia

tura, escultura, dibujo, ornamentos, etc.

STUDENT
HELPERS
For many years the student
helpers have not received credit
for the hard work which is done in
helping Mrs. Mardus in the Library.
These helpers, during their study
periods, mend books, print num-
bers, and straighten the books on
the shelves.
Well, not always! ll
,ff
OFFICERS: From left to right: Jill Holmdohl, president, Juan Sevilla, secretaryg Richard
Oppenheim, vice-presidentg Ivonne Auditac, treasurer.
The Student Council of 1967 -68 has, as a major project, published
a studentvhandbook which will be of great help to those students who
step on these grounds for the first time in the fall of 1968. LD. cards
have been made available for every student. '
As a project with the administration, the Student Council has
applied to the National Honor Society and been accepted.
L So, as you see, we have projected ourselves: we have taken up
projects that are lengthy in their completion but will be beneficial to
new students and to those who will be here next year. Good luck!
A typical meeting in the cozy team-
teaching room!

The staff of the yearbook wishes to 'thank all
of you for making this yearbook. Yes, we
compiled it, but it was you who stood there and
did something outstanding, funny, scholastically
terrific, or something like just being yourself -

The basketball team was handicapped
this year by a lack of players but in
spite of it all, it has done well. They
showed their determination and skill
in the annual Student-teacher basket-
ball game. Despite the fact that they
could play few games, the team has
kept a cheerful and determined spirit.
