College application, foot- ball practice, newspaper writing and editing and the age old song repeated by parents " keep your grades up " , were all tunes that the seniors heard. Perhaps the strongest melody that the senior heard was the one that said it was the last year. For some it has been only a few years; for others the American School had been the only school they had ever known. For all it was the close of a song they will not soon forget. 11 " Seniors are cool . . Many of the members of both the physics-math program and the humanities program would attend Universities in Monterrey. Others would stay to finish High School in order to go to the United States. And still others were pre- paring to be married. For everyone concerned it meant a heavy load, 12 to 14 subjects per semester. The refrains of slave driving teachers and flunked tests were in- cluded in their song. They will of course be remem- bered for the laughs and fun that they brought to the school, for their contributions to the EAGLE and HIGHLIGHTS! But for the most part they will be remembered for being themselves. That was truly part of the music they made. ■■Hk 22 The time to be happy is now. The place to be happy is here. The student coun- cil hosted a successful home- coming dance during football season. During the ASOMEX basketball tournament, as host city, the Student Coun- cil hosted a dance reunion which was weU attended by the participating teams and the students of the ASF. At the pep rallies that the Stu- dent CouncU organized, the students showed that they really did have spirit and did care about their school. The Eagles rolled over their opponents, win- ning all but one game and that a scoreless tie. The Eagle defense allowed no score in 6 games. " No score in 74 " was the victory chant. The offense averaged 30 points each game while the de- fense gave up only 22 yards per g me. No matter how impressive the statistics were, there was another aspect that was just as impres- sive, the spirit that was gener- ated. For the first time in years the championship was brought to the school. The school was waking up to the fact that they had something to be proud of. For the first time the students could see a reason for support- ing their school, and that was perhaps the best end to a win- ning season. 3 7 10 13 21 22 25 30 32 33 40 44 47 49 50 56 60 62 66 67 71 72 73 77 78 83 84 85 90 Claudio Barriga Carlos Barrett Mike Clements Eugenic Galindo Jesus Dabdoub Jerry Suarez Luigi Cavalli Robert Koubratoff Tom Townsend Alan Clements Mike Van Steenberg Jorge Calvillo Brian Navarro Chris Lambert Mark Caldwell Randy Voss Richard Ontiveros Roberto Andre ' Mike Eisele Tomas Andre Jan Van der Mersch JesiJs Trevino Hector Trevino Javier de la Garza Alan Watts Aaron Lozano Enrique Hinojosa David Martinez Jeff Hedgedus 159 After a long day at practice, it always feels good to charge up your 160 The stingiest defense in the league lines up against Prepa 9. 161 Vatsity Basketball Left to right standing: Randy Voss, Mike Eisele, Alan Clements, Scott Seeley, Felipe Rubio, Jesus Trevino, Gerardo Suarez.
