Basketball
On November 1, 1956 coaches Adams and
Osso met with the thirty-two basketball candi-
dates from which a varsity and a junior varsity
basketball team were to be built. After two
weeks of practice the twenty boys making up
the two teams were selected. The team con-
sisted of one senior, ten iuniors, and nine sopho-
mores. This inexperienced group performed
quite capably during the early part of the sea-
son. However, Dame Fortune started to frown
on the young Bridgers. In a period of two
weeks four serious iniuries wrecked plans for a
successful season. The league schedule was
played by a team made up of two sophomores,
two iuniors, and one inexperienced senior play-
ing his first year of basketball. Although these
boys suffered many defeats they continued to
give their school and coaches all of the fight and
spirit necessary to wear the garnet and gray.
The experience gained this year will be of in-
valuable assistance to the Bridger Cagers of
1957-1958.

The Ambridge Junior High football team coached by Mr. John Chapala
and his assistant Mr. John Kokoslci won three games and lost one this
season. They defeated Midland, Beaver Falls and Aliquippa, and lost to
Ellvvood City.
Junior High Basketball
Won ll Lost 5
The Junior High basketball team showed definite signs of im-
provement as game after game was played. They were short
on height and speed but long on spirit and hustle and once again
proved that old proverb, where there is a will there is a way.
Their eagerness was responsible for their finishing in the upper
bracket of section 19.
