Janua ry-Feb ruary Mid-Term Exams Reflect on Student Achievements Harrisburg here we come! and with an impromptu assembly to see team off it was a melee of cheers. Even with the season’s basketball fever on a steady climb, student thoughts turned to tests. Beginning with January 16, sophomores and seniors spent homeroom period laboring over their hygiene tests. Evidence of last minute cramming appeared on the sleep-worn faces of students prior to semester tests given on January 20 and 23. Rosemarie Roginski and Sheryl Smith won high honors for Ambridge Area High School when they were chosen for positions on the Honors Band at Westminster College. On January 12 and 13, Ambridge Area High representatives in the Mid-Western Choral Festival, Jenny Double, Valerie Simosko, Mike Sumko, William Hamilton, and Joe Herrmann performed splendidly in the choral concert held at Mercer High School. Aiding the teachers while gaining experience for themselves, some of the seniors took teachers’ places on Senior Day, February 27. 20

Judy Weber, student guide, helps a parent find her way around halls during National Education Week. November-December Holiday Season Sets the Mood for Soeial Events November and December were hectic months for our students. The novelty of a new school year had worn off. however, school was not all drudgery and hard work. There were many social events that brightened the spirits of the students. Thespian Society produced a three act comedy, “Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys,” to the public on November 18. On November 23, the Student Council-sponsored Dress-up Day created a formal atmosphere in and around the building. With the Christmas season came the accompanying set of holiday preparations. Chorus students rehearsed their songs for the Christmas concerts, and homeroom decorating committees prepared th’ir rooms for the festive mood.
