On spring days, school organizations found an easy opportunity to raise funds by holding car washes. At one of the half time shows, head majorette Diana Rich performs to the band’s playing of “Spanish Flea.” September-October Students Return to AHS to Establish Organizations With the start of a new school year, students also saw the beginning of exciting student-sponsored activities. The Student Council held its fifth annual Garnet and Gray Dance on September 9 in the girls’ gym. The sponsoring of a car wash on September 17 was the first Leaders’ Club fund-raising project. Later in the month they bolstered school spirit by selling garnet and gray football pins. The Thespians held tryouts for the all school play, “Rally ’Round the Flag, Boys,” on September 19. Student ping-pong pictures were taken on October 10 and 11. Representatives of the Leaders’ Club participated in the annual Beaver County Play Day at Aliquippa High School on October 13. College-bound juniors and seniors focused their attention on the PSAT, which was given on October 22. Initiations of new members were held by the Latin Club on October 19 and the Historical Society on October 24. Ambridge High students cheer the team on as the last game of the season comes to an abrupt etui.

November-December Holiday Season Sets the Mood for Soeial Events November and December were hectic months for our students. The novelty of a new school year had worn off. however, school was not all drudgery and hard work. There were many social events that brightened the spirits of the students. Thespian Society produced a three act comedy, “Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys,” to the public on November 18. On November 23, the Student Council-sponsored Dress-up Day created a formal atmosphere in and around the building. With the Christmas season came the accompanying set of holiday preparations. Chorus students rehearsed their songs for the Christmas concerts, and homeroom decorating committees prepared th’ir rooms for the festive mood.
