Jookfplggbglcjaupon the events ofthe past year, I never knew
there were solfmany things to remember. I'II never forget the fun
we had at the football games and the big pep assemblies, cheering
for our team whether they were winning or losing. The band with
their lively playing and clever formationsalways added to the school
spirit. Remember the exciting basketball games, the track meets,
and of course baseball? How hard we worked to make the vocal
concert, the class plays, the gymnastic exhibition, and talent night
big successes! And of course I can't forget the classes, the most
important part of all. I never thought I would live through all the
homework. Remember dissecting frogs in biology, and bisecting
angles in plane geometry? I canstill feel the sore muscles from gym
classes and taste all the good things we baked in home economics.
I remember all the studying we didn't do in study hall. And then
there were all the accidents in chemistry class. We must have given
our teacher nightmares. I know Iwon't forget the teachers who
helped us so much. But most of all l'll remember all the friends
I made who suffered through and enioyecl with me our life in Ambriclge
High.

The school evaluation taken last
spring proved Ambridge to be a
standout. A recent release of the
Association o! Colleges and Secon-
dary Schools of the Middle At-
lantic States and Maryland, which
includes New York, Connecticut.
Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jer-
sey, and Maryland and the District
of Columbia, rated Ambridge in
the Very Good and Good columns
in every phase of high school nc-
tivity. In fact. most were Very
Good, The possibilities for each
matter rated were Very Good,
Good, Fair, and Poor.
Among schools with over 100 stu-
dents rated in the survey, Am-
bridge rated second In activities out
of a field of 31. The only school

Choice of Students
The annual Silhouette Talei.
Assembly was held on October 19
which closed the newspaper sub-
Scriprion Campaign. Talent from the
student body performed while Irvin
Jacobs and Phil Mathews were
masters of ceremonies.
During the two week campaign,
each junior and senior homeroom
elected a girl fitting the qualifica.
tions to be Miss Silhouette. Several
ballots finally narrowed -the con-
test down to one contestant. She,
Patty Vellano, was crowned Miss
Silhouette, climaxing the talent as-
sembly Monday morning.
A record number of subscriptions
were taken this year.

Right here in your own town are people who are serving the
world. Perhaps they are your father or brother or sister and
perhaps someday, even you may be among them. For these people
are the men and women of Wyckoff Steel.
Serving the world, you say? Yes, indeed. lt may not have
occurred to you but cold finished steel, which is what we make at
VVyckoff, is used for fhe precision parts of literally everything in
the world that is mechanical . . . and in this mechanical age that
includes just about everything. You'll find cold finished steel in
ordinary objects like mechanical can openers and screw drivers and
automobiles andjuke boxes. You,ll hnd it, too, in unordinary things
like rockets and jet planes and Geiger counters and radar equip-
ment. Youall find it in Ambridge and you'll find it in Timbuctoo.
Yes, the men and women of VVyckofT Steel Company make only
cold finished steelfmake it fine and tempered and truefbut
they literally serve the world with one of the basic materials of
our modern civilization.

ACRES OF DIAMONDS
A famous preacher used to tell the story of a man who roamed the
world searching for diamonds. They were to be his short cut to riches
and fame. Though he searched for a lifetime, and endured many hard-
ships, he never found a single diamond. But shortly after he had died,
the world's greatestdiamond field was discovered near the home he had
left.
Ambridge and the Greater Pittsburgh area likewise contain acres
of diamonds . They are found in the opportunities afforded by the in-
dustrial plants here cund by Pittsburgh's famed educational and cultural
institutions. The Ambridge High graduate seekinga satisfying and suc-
cessful future may very well find it within a few miles of the high
school door.
Whether you discover your opportunity near at hand, of must travel
afar to find it, we hope it will be one that brings you much happiness.
