Students interested in a career in nursing are mem- bers. of the Future Nurses Club at Sandieland. The group was sponsored by Miss Mary Kay Simms, the school nurse assigned to Amarillo High School for the 19325-39 school year. The girls meet each week and are given an insight into the aspects of the pro- fession of nursing and what the students might expect. She was nanicd one of the twcnty most outstanding seniors as llne rcsult of this hpnor and hcr work with the school nurse. The Amarillo High School Bowling Club met weekly on Thursdays at Sandieland in 1953-59. The group was sponsored by Mr. Phil Pflug. a new member of the Sandie-land faculty. The group actually did their bowling at the Western Bowl out on the Canyon llighway. League scores were kept among the meni- lvcrs. ,luincs liurlcson was clccted ns president in the fall of this athletic group. Doris Winter scrxed as vice-president.
