To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven,
A time to be born, and a time to dieg a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that
which is plantedg ,
A time to break down, and a time to build upg a time to embrace, and a time to
refrain from embracing,
A time to weep, and a time to laughg a time to keep, and a time to cast away,
A time to rend, and a time to sew, a time to keep silent, and a time to speak,
A time to love, and a time to hate, a time of war, and a time of peace . . .
ECCLESIASTES 3: 1- 8
Our high school years are short and very exciting. They
are filled with moments of happiness and disappointment, joy
and sorrow. These years will form the foundation of our future,
and the base of our lives. Take this time to look back once
again, and relive your memories, for, though they are over,
they will never be forgotten.

Student
Leader
Andy Merrill,
Student Body President
As graduation approaches, the end of the most sensational four years of my life
draws to an end. No longer will there be the rallies, dances, games, or any of the
other activities we took for granted when we had them. Next year we will enter a
new worldg one of happiness, sadness, victory, and defeatg with the hope of reach-
ing the goals we have finally established. Some of us will reach these goals, and
some will not, and some won't even have this chance.
We can only assume that these years have given us our first step, and, hope that
this first step is in the right direction.
To those of you not leaving this year, make the most of the coming years, for
once you've wasted them they' can never be reclaimed. I can only hope that your high
school years can be as memorable and fun-filled as mine have been.
Always,
Chorus

"I heard in February that I had been ac-
cepted for the AFS winter program. I was
still in the midst of my basic infantry training,
and America seemed very far off. My initial
feeling of delight turned to apprehension when
I remembered that Americans were very igno-
rant of my country. I was more-or-less ex-
pecting someone to ask if I had Tarzan's auto-
graph.
Finally, army was over and I arrived at
Amador. My first three impressions of major
differences in the schools are still with me.
l Firstly, we are forced to pay more attention
3 to teachersg standing up when they enter the
room and addressing them as "sir. " Secondly
- we dress more formally than Americans with
white shirts, a tie, and jacket. Thirdly,
Americans chew far more gum than we, and
this I noticed very much as everyone's jaw
seemed to be moving.
E
We are more chivalrous to our girls than American boys Qeven though we call them hangsjg opening
doors etc. , whereas in America, girls have to shift for themselvesg which they seem to do very well, Some-
thing that I shall never forget is American football. It's the quickest way 22 guys can commit suicide. It
looks like a mixture of tank warfare and chess. In football, just because you might tackle the guy with the
ball, you are flattened by his teammates.
I have honestly had a thoroughly enjoyable year, with plenty of pleasant experiences and memories to
take home with me. All I can say is thank you very much, Amador, and I hope that someday Ishall see
some of you again. Perhaps I can be host to some of you in my country because it is always hard to say
goodbye forever. " , i .

Leland O. Glandon, graduate ofa Wheatridge, Colorado High School and U. C. Berke-
ley where he majored in Political Science and received his Masters Degree in Education.
He served Sutter Creek Union High School as a teacher, vice-principal, and coach until
December 1, 1934. At this time, Mr. Glandon became principal. In 1949, under his
leadership and guidance, the school name was changed to Amador County High School.
July 1. 1952, the OFC Madre Unified School Districtwas formed with Mr. Glandon serving
as District Superintendent. He retained this position for fifteen years, until his retirement
on June 30, 1967.
Mr. Glandon has served our school for 37 1X2 years as teacher-coach, vice-principal,
principal and District Superintendent. On his retirement the Board of Trustees, honored
Mr. Glandon by naming the new gymnasium for him. It was dedicated on December 23,
1965. Mr. Glandon had a deep interest in sports and the gym is a fitting memorial to his
work at our school.

The OVERLAND GUIDE of the 1850 s tells us of
the day-to-day journeys of our pioneers from Council
Bluffs to Sutter's Fort. Travelers were cautioned about
treacherous fords , alkaline deserts and poisonous
springs. The location of wood, water and grass--and
most other vital information the worried emigrant
needed too know- -was given. These guides were found
on every wagon train, and, while they sold for only
fifty cents, their information was a priceless necessity
for a successful trip west.
In a way, you are commencing a journey your-
self which may be even more spectacular than the
overland trip of acentury ago. Your high school years
are a time of preparation for that trip which will
reach perhaps for you, into mysterious outer space.
During these important high school years you will
have an opportunity to learn about the quicksand, the
boiling springs and therattlesnakes, radio-active fall-
out, polluted air, and racial strife, as well as lush
meadows, blue lakes and snowy peaks, automation,
medical advances, and boundless opportunities.
We hope you will be prepared for your trip and
that you will make use of the guide books and experi-
ence available. Your journey will not always be an
easy one, but with good preparation and determination
you will find unlimited opportunities. Plan well so
that in die years to come you can look back on your
experiences atAmadorwith pride and satisfaction and
be able to say to yourself, "I was prepared."
