They learned some new cheers and got ideas on how to pep up school spirit. CHEERLEADERS OF 1971-1972 VARSITY Rhonda C. Barb S. Jean J. Judi O. Vicki J. Jr. VARSITY Jeri M. Teri B. Sherry S. Teri E. Vicki P. The junior class members ol the varisty cheerleading squac are Judy Olson, Vicki Jordan and Jeanne Johnson. The cheerleaders ordinarily practice every Wednesday night, but have been busier than usual lately planning a new pom pon routine for the homecoming game and helping the student council make plans for spirit week, which begins October 12 a n d continues through the homecoming dance Saturday October 16, with a different event each day. The five girls who are cheerleaders this year were also cheerleaders last year, and several of the girls have been leading school spirit nearly every year since seventh grade. All the girls find time to be active members and hold offices in various school organizations. Barbara Sotelo is Senior class secretary and secretary-treasur-of GAA. Rhonda Cowser, head cheerleader, is also on the yearbook staff. Jeanne Johnson is first vice president of FHA. Vicki Jordan is treasurer of the vocal music organization, and Judy Olson is a junior class member of Student Council. All the girls belong to other clubs and organizations as well. All the girls attend all games no matter what the weather, and are there to lead hardy team supporters in cheers, be it raining, snowing or 10 below. The girls have the task of leading an appropriate cheer for what is happening on the football field, although they see very little of the game, since they must face the crowd to lead cheers. 771971 VARSITY FOOTBALL I wouldn't have fumbled if I didn't have this hangnail, Coach.
