Our inspiration--the United Nations Building in New York City reflect ing the city's skyline.
Here in our community is our own miniature United Nations--the AlWood High School. This past summer there were 36 delegates representing 21 countries here on Independence Day. Our community was host to these students, who were on their way home after serving as exchange students in the United States. These students, our own exchange students, our visitor from Luxembourg--all of these people have helped to develop thoughts of world peace and friendship within us.
These students shared with us a weekend of discussion, sports, dancing, and a good old-fashioned 4th of July picnic.
Peace and friendship begin right here
at school and in our community. We are learning to get along with classmates each day. Each week, through sports or some other conference event, we are given the opportunity to widen our circle of friends.
We are striving to be friendly with each and every person with whom we come in contact and to develop our understanding of our community--locally, nationally, and internationally.
We would like to share with you the joys, friendships, and understandings we gained of our own schoolmates and of teenagers all over the world in this year of '61 and '62.
