AtWood High School has progressed steadily under the supervision of Mr. Metzger, the principal. Included in his daily schedule is everything from announcements on the intercom to instruction of the general math class. He also works with the senior class as their advisor. In spite of his busy schedule he is willing to help any student who wants counselling on colleges, scholarships, or school problems.
OFFICE STAFF Kay Murdock, secretary to Mr. Metzger, and Mrs. Diggs, secretary to Mr. Fischer, work hard to keep the school offices up-to-date and in order. Miss Murdock has multiple duties, but among the most important is filling out the students' report cards. Mrs. Diggs' various duties include the essential task of making out salary checks for personnel.
Among Mr. Fischer's daily activities are seeing to all executive business of our school system, visiting each school building, and attending numerous meetings and consultations. Other problems, such as making decisions on snowy days as to whether classes can be held, often crop up. Under the able guidance of Mr. Fischer and the other AlWood personnel, the AlWood school system has advanced rapidly in its thirteen years.

Mr. Minder teaches the freshmen general science and the seventh and eighth grade P.E. classes. He is also coach for the junior high basketball, track, and baseball squads (junior and senior high).
Foreign Language
RUTH BLOOMBERG, FRANCES FISCHER Our foreign language department offers AlWood students Latin I and II, and French I. Latin is taught by Mrs. Bloomberg. English III and the directing of the junior and senior class plays are included in her busy schedule. Mrs. Fischer is the French professeur. Also, among her day's activities is music instruction for the primary grades.
English
JANE WEECH, IRENE McGAUGHY The importance of grammar and literature for our use in our future occupations is stressed to us by our English teachers. Mrs. Weech works with the freshmen and sophomores in the mechanics of English and different types of literature. Mrs. McGaughy instructs the seniors through term papers and English literature, such as Shakespeare's Macbeth, plus other aspects of grammar and literature. Also, through her work as librarian every student may be proud of Alwood's well-organized library.
