The Hatchets grabbed an early lead and retained it throughout the game. Due to the death of Amador Wyrick and Clark Prather, games with French Lick and Fort Wayne were cancelled. Franklin 14--Columbus 21 The Bulldogs slipped one over on the Vandiviermen at Franklin. Columbus spurted in the final minutes to win by seven points. Franklin 25-Greenfield 13 The Franklin net snipers won from Greenfield at Greenfield. The slow break proved effective and the game was never in danger. Franklin 16-Bedford 14 The Blue and White added another victory to their string at the expense of the Stone-City boys. Franklin got a break and slipped through the winning field goal in the final seconds of play. Franklin 34-Connersville 26 In a semi-football game, the Franklin squad trounced the Spartans for the second time this season. Connersville took the lead in the last half but the old come-back functioned and the Blue and White won another one. Franklin 23-Rushville 22 Listless basketball almost lost this game but Franklin stalled the game out with a one point lead. This was the last scheduled game of the season. wiyii iyri tgps 1:3 egg, za Tournaments In the sectional held at Franklin the boys triumphed by defeating Nineveh, Clark, Edinburg, and Center Grove. Having won the sectional, the Vandiviermen advanced to the regional at Columbus. For the first time in several years the Bull Dogs were among those not present, Shel- byville having defeated them the week before in the sectional at Shelbyville. To return to the subject, Franklin disposed of Greensburg in the first round and met Shelbyville in the finals. That night Fuzzy's boys won 19-15 and at once began preparing for the big show at Butler's field house. Here the Franklin squad met Dugger in the first round and won by a safe margin. The next opponents were Friddle's Hatchets. This powerful downstate team won the championship and Franklin held them to the closest score, 13-11. Does this suggest anything to you? Obviously, the Franklin team was the 'second- best' in the state. Any way our boys did their best, so we can ask for no more. l930
