FOREIGN LANGUAGES Languages gain importance for industry, government Study of language is more than merely prepar- ing for college admission in today's jet age. All students need facility in at least one additional language for travel, for job openings that may be at any portion of the globe. Altus schools offer immediate opportunities for advanced stu- dents. Some work as translators, others are lab- oratory aides, and assistants in the school's ex- tensive migrant education program working with those for whom Spanish is a first language. Bilingual students add valuable knowledge to language club meetings. MRS. DALE CULVER, M.Ed., attended OU and the University of Grenoble, France. She teaches Latin and French and sponsors these language clubs. MRS. D. M. EWING, M.A., attended UCLA, OU, and Interamerican University, Saltillo, Mexico. She teaches Spanish I, and is one of the Spanish Club sponsors. MRS. BOB ROOKER, M.A., attended OSU, OU, and the Interamerican University, Saltillo, Mexico. She teaches Spanish II and is the other Spanish Club sponsor. MODERN Spanish lab at AHS was chosen as the location for a summer workshop for teachers who teach migrant children. Mrs. Dolly Harrell conducted the workshop. Mary Jeanne Fancher and Marilyn Smith, student assistants operated film projectors and printed tests. Mrs. Bob Rooker and Mrs. D. M. Ewing were instructors.

Students in need of first aid do not find it necessary to leave school. They can be treated for minor ailments by the school nurse, Mrs. Walter McAnallen.
