BUSINESS EDUCATION Clerical skills improve job opportunity, home work grades AHS business education department serves a three-fold purpose for its students. Some learn skills for future employment in civil service, industry, business and education. Others are able to earn their way while attending college, and still others use their training for such per- sonal needs as academic assignments, and busi- ness letters. Those enrolled in beginning computer pro- gramming gain immediate benefits in space age college courses and in industrial vocations. INCOME TAX forms will have no fears for students who studied the principles of preparing returns in the clerical practice class of Mr. Nick Wolfe. MISS GLADE CLEMONS, M B A., attended Central State College, West Texas State, and OU. She teaches Business English and Typing I MR. EARL HERRON, B.S., attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma. He is director of the Neighborhood Youth Corps for five counties with headquarters at AHS. FINE ARTS Student talents find expression in art, band, vocal music Twelve years of instruction in music and art culminate with graduation from Altus High. Graduates who choose a major in these fields often secure scholarships while participating as university or college entertainers. Advanced art is in only its fourth year at AHS, but this year students assisted in pre- senting one of the largest art school exhibitions. Held in a downtown building, exhibition hours were each afternoon and evening during American Education Week. Thousands viewed the work. MR. KENNETH COX, M.A., was graduated from Oklahoma City University and North Texas State University. He teaches vocal music and is a nationally known specialist on the changing voice. MRS. MONICA KAY CRUM, B.S., in Ceramics attended Illinois State University at Nornai Illinois. She teaches Art I at AHS and art at Central Junior High. MR. JEFFERSON DOUGHTEN, M.T., attended West Texas State University and SWSC. He is head band director and teaches music theory and stageband. MR. LARRY A. HARRIS, B.M.E., attended West Texas State University and Southwestern State College. He is assistant band director at AHS. MRS. RICHARD MAFFRY, B.S., attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. She teaches Art I, Art II, and Art III. MR. DOIS L. PACE, B.M.E., attended Southwestern State College and West Texas State University. He is assistant band director at AHS.
