Then they walk from one to three miles each morning as they practice precision drills. It all adds up to first place awards and good shows for game and parade spectators. 12

MIHI TRANSPORTATION Big 100-square mile district entails daily travel for students By bus, car, share-ride, motor bike, scooters, motorcycles, bicycles, and shoe leather the students of Altus High come to school. Parking facilities are enlarged constantly to take care of new additions to the district which in turn means additional parking required. Con- trary to magazine articles many students walk by preference, mak- ing their mile or more “constitutional both for physical fitness and companionship with others who join them on the way. Students who live in Altus Air Force Base housing come by express bus directly to the high school. Others are picked up at their homes in the northeast part of the county as far as 35 miles distant.
