The Senate Our national government has a Senate which represents the peopleg thus the Altoona High School Student Senate represents our stu- dent body. The organization contains twenty- five members who represent each class and each major activity in the school. It is their responsi- bility to study school problems, to suggest a means of solving them, and to Work toward school improvement. This year the group, under the leadership of Miss Kathryn Bloomfield, worked as guides during the teachers' convention, helped or- Melvin Bittner ganize the college conferences, and bv means of a talent show raised money to aid student activi- ties. They took charge of the sale of activities tickets, PTA memberships, and the Horseshoe. Three of their delegates represented AHS at the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils convention in Kittanning. By its routine activities and through these special projects the Altoona High School Student Senate carried on the traditions of service, of self government, and of laboring for the common Welfare--all elements of American democracv.
