K , ' SEASON LOWDOWN The Altoona Cagers, Coached by Tom Lehman, opened the season by defeating Mondovi 4 -37, They ended the season with a well earned Victory over a strong Elk Mound quint 69-61. During the course of the season we defeated Cornell, Cadott, Fall Creek, and Gilman each twice. Elk Mound, Boycevills, St. Pats, Augusta, McDonnell, Thorp each fell at the hands of the cinderman once. We dropped three season games to such great teams as McDonnell, Thorp, and St. Pats. After the season was over we met Thorp at Thorp for the championship of the Cloverbelt. We were defeated by a great bunch of boys 58-A5. Season scoring honors were well divided among the first five. But Chuck Rasmussen playing some inspiring ball led the Railroaders with a total of 35? just 8 points short of a season record set by Gene Musolf. Musolf's total was 355. Rasmussen was followed by lanky Ev Lowry with 261, Fuzzy Thurston with 182, Dick Thurston h1snCous' with 163, and Dick Radisewltz with lb2. Ronnie Babbitt and Roger Thompson led the subs with 60 and 59 respectively. Altoona entered the District tournament with an impressive record, of 15-3. Playing Granton in their first contest we easily defeated them by 68-39. Then the railroaders playing brillant ball defeated a great Elk Mound quint 59-b7. While we were derailing Elk Mound, Fall Greek was trampling Fairchild, this meant we would meet a great team from Fall Creek in the finals on Saturday night. We defeated Fall Creek in the finals 68-36 as the cinderman displayed some of the well played ball they were capable of playing. We then met Fountain Bity, winner of the Mondovi District at Mond- ovi for the right to see who would enter the sectional at Menomonie. Our season was brought to a abrupt halt by a fighting, Fountain City team. Everything went wrong! We lost four men via fouls, missed twenty free throws, and generally played way below par. We had hopes of going further but our dreams were bhnished and Fountain C1ty's hopes were continued. 'B' SQUAD Th' 'B' Squad has had a very succussful season this year, losing four out of 18 games. Such well earned victories were over McDonnell, Thorp, and St. Pats each twice. The only team to defeat us twice this Yelr was Cornell. There was nc outstanding individual as all of the first five contributed to the score. Glassbrenner, Underwood, Weeks, will be of good aid to the 'A' squad next year. Reiter and Kleist are the only B squaders to d t . W 1 X - ful season next year. gra ua e e are oo ing for A very success Sponsored by UECKE DAIRY CO. 4 44 ,S 44. :GX 'v ' ,V 4 V!
