From the capital of El Salvador. San Salvador, we have Vicky Mena. She is living with the White family in Godfrey. Having just been with us a short shile. Vicky already knows she likes the U.S. Among Vicky's interests ore: Crochet and sports such as basketball and swimming: She plans to study engineering when she returns. Vicky hopes to overcome her shyness and meet many people during her stay here and as is obvious, she is going to reach her goalsl 10 When you hear the name 'Lolls” being called, you know ones calling Dolores Garza, our student from Monterrey. Mexico. She lives with the Asaro family In Godfrey. Among Lolls interests ore: horseback riding, swimming, tennis, and her favorite, bowling. Dolores is very thankful to everyone at A.H.S. for helping her with English, which she plans to study extensively with communications when she returns to Mexico. Dolores soys that she too, like the other foreign students, has enjoyed her stay here. ILLINOIS STATE SCHOLARS DAR-SAR The local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sons of the American Revolution present Good Citizenship awards based on the student's dependability. cooperation, leadership and patriotism. This years recipiants is Chrisulo Skordos. Chris has olso won the 1981 Youth Citizenship Award presented by the Soroptimisf International of Alton. The award is based on accomplishments of the student in connection with school and country activities. The following students from Alton High have been awarded o certificate of Merit by the Illinois State Scholarship Commission for outstanding performance in the 1980-81 State Scholar Program. Gorry was one of 5,100 academically able students recognized. He is considered for an undergraduate scholarship. Also commended was Kormyn Carrington, who scored in the upper 10 percent. She plons to attend Boston University and major in accounting.
