Therefore it becomes the duty of each citizen of a democracy to take advantage offered through public education for each to develop his ability to think, speak and write critically and accurately. Our country will gain in wealth and knowledge in proportion as these factors are developed and applied.

The time, work, and money spent for your high school education will prepare you for business, industry, or college. The work habits which you develop in school probably will govern your activities after graduation. The attitude you develop toward the world around you will influence your cooperation with others and your interest in the social, political, economic, and cultural life of the community in which you live. The friends you choose and your respect for the dignity of others undoubtedly will have an influence on your success and happiness. During the twelve or thirteen years you attend the public schools, you are molding your character and personality traits. The achievement you make in the academic, vocational, and co-curricular activities will help you to advance during the post-adolescent years. The time you spend studying is time well spent. The time you waste will be lost forever.
