BOYS' CABINET The Boys' Cabinet is an organization that serves the school in many ways, They an- nounce and work the scoreboard at the foot- ball games, work concessions at basketball games, take tickets at various organizations. and post the large bulletin board in the main entrance. This year the Cabinet bought a large fan for the office help and helped in the pur- chasing of an audiometer for the nurse. Boys' Cabinet Row l: Dave Ash. Student Council Alton Highs Student Council, sponsored' by Mr. DeWitt Thcmas, is an organization consisting of students from the sophomore, junior, and senior classes who are willing to devote their time to improving our school and our activities. .S7flfL6lQl'lf 6014061 i ACTION This year they sponsored our homecoming. They also puiblished a "Buzz Book" and helped solve the many problems confronting students and faculty alike. The officers, candidates taken from the junior class, are elected in an all-school campaign each spring. The officers for this year have been: Ron Vanata, President: and' Bill Eidson, Vice. Quill and Scroll This national honorary society for high school journalists includes members of the staffs of both our school publications. the TATLER and the TIMES. The Alton High chapter was reactivated this year after lying dormant for quite a few years. Mr, Bailey and Mrs. lrma Allen were the first semester ad- visors, and after Mrs. Allen left, Mrs. Barbara Zeller took her place. This year members attended a convention of the ISHSPA, and they also sponsored a student assembly which featured Beulah Schacht. columnist for the Globe-Democrat. A field trip to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch was taken and en- joyed by the members. Regular meetings are not held, but in- ductions will be presented each fall and spring. N.
