Most of the games were an uphill light in the last half, showing what the team could really do. The lirst game of the season found Alton defeating Highland, and then, after a few losses, winning hoth games from Madison. High point of the season was the victory over the sharpshooting Wood River team in a thrilling overtime game. Fighting from behind, Alton forged ahead in the last half with Wood River tying the score as the fourth quarter ended. Showing remarkable accuracy, Alton tasted sweet victory in the ensuing overtime. The Redhirds linished the season with a win over Greenville. The success of a team is too often measured hy the numher of games won and lost. Alton was often defeated hut never heaten, in that they fought each game to the end. We may he well proud of our team for their lighting spirit. It now hoasts over a hundred members, an achievement not only for the hand, hut for the school. Its high stepping formations and snappy marches added much to the enjoyment of the foothall games, as did the sharp new numbers Mt. Duker introduced at the haskethall games. But the hand didn't end its prowesses with entertainment at athletic functionsg it slowed its tempo down to provide music for the plays and graduation, also. The biggest attraction of the year, however, was the annual concert, the hest of its kind ever presented at Alton High. Under the excellent direction of Mr. Duker, we can expect even greater achievements in years to come. fllrrm Higlw .Ytlwol Mmrlinig Bum! We have been particularly fortunate in having Gene Shultz again as a photographer. The montages that he has spent hours preparing are very exceptional. Genes willingness and readiness to take pictures has filled our annual with scenes from all departments of school. The advertising staff has done outstanding work with Marcus Sessel deserving much of the credit. He and .lim St. Cin led the group in securing more advertising than was ever before obtained, thereby making a larger and better book possible. The editorial, business, art, typing, advertising, and circulation staffs achieved near-perfect harmony. Mr. Johnson deserves our thanks for his help in making many of the pictures possible. Behind the production of every yearbook we find the expert guidance ofa faculty advisor. We extend our deepest appreciation to Miss Williamson, who has workel untiringly to help a "green stafi"' turn into an efficient one, so that they might offer you a yearbook of which you may be justly proud. lillili MOSS, lflditor Mclling 8: Gnslxins Printing., fo 0 0.19 'e V05 Q tfgooxx o- 4 , , 'S' V'o-'55-I5 'QL' Npoj 'Co NOQOS0 X9-PX-P 'oc' Nagar gag- gg? t'q5,6o ec' Jfeov- 6.4 ww-Q,-ao 'fa fffbgl Nara'-r'5 -'30-' 0"9 0' nor 'dar fgxx pf.,-sf fffff--ff--f f-Q - on YNo,,r'b Of """' who-,9- vjgos, Xisa-oo .90 V000 ' V- G, 3. ara- -""'x"' 8,501 Q05 of ' Q W Jgy!
