The team, inspired with a "never-say-die" spirit, ended its season with a slight let-down from
last year. The Hilltoppers' few defeats did not stop their fans from supporting their team. Anyone
who saw the Alton team play saw an exciting game with plenty of sportsmanship and team work.

However, with Coach Ingles' eflicient coaching the teams showed great improvement. Al-
though Alton did not win all of its games, any team who played them knew that they had been
in a tough basketball game.
Those boys who played on the squad deserve much credit for the time and energy which they
spent while they played for our school.

For three years the spirits of the basketball team
have been bolstered byjim Youngberg. In his sopho-
more year, jim took over the job of managing the
team. Some of his jobs were: keeping the uniforms
sorted, taping ankles, and carrying water and towels
to the boys during time out periods. Jim deserves a
