From the Editors Notebook The youth of today shall be the adults of tomorrow is often heard in our everyday life, but let's forget the present and future for a while, and look into the past-over our school days at Alton High. Lest we forget our beautiful setting of green, let us hark back to our sophomore year when we were learning the fifty-odd trees and shrubs which add their beauty to our campus the year 'round. We are proud of our terraced lawns and stately building, our home for the past four years. Her halls, which were a rendevous for countless friendships, and her rooms of learning where we gained our store of knowledge to make us better AMERICAN citizens, will live forever in our minds and hearts. On starry nights we trekked up the north hill to the playing field and cheered our boys on to victory. Later in the season, the gym resounded with our shouts for valiant teams adding glory to the name of our Alma Mater. We had fun in our organizations Cespecially on initiation nightsl meanwhile learning that our teachers were really human and shared our joys and sorrows. Our capable principals, Mr. Hanna and Mr. johnson, were ever on the alert for our welfare and safety, and many were their trials and tribulations while guiding us along the proper path. We have often been called The Hilltoppersn due to our geographical location, but to us, the seniors of Alton High, it means the very tops in everything.
