img ailfdffffw LeRoy for HGVTISOD if F W-M .wma IT is beyond doubt 'a truth that Fat Harrison has made the best athletic record of any Alton High player in the last twenty years and one of the best records in all the athletic history of Alton High Fat has always had size natural athletic ability personality good manners ease elegance poise honesty honor reputation and character on his side Endowed hy nature with some of these attributes he had the happy faculty to develop the others Fat began his athletic career in Alton High in the fall of 1933 when Coach jackson was badly in need of another lineman Fat clicked and clicked so well that he not only won a football letter but made the all con ference team Fat never laid down in a football game and never failed to be in his regular place at the start of the game throughout 4 years of play If deception in play was needed Fat could qualify however straaght football was usually his choice and opponents frequently used 2 quite often 3 men to stop Fat A keen example of Fat s deception came in 34 against Western Military Alton High 3 Wcstern7 4th quarter Fat dropped out of the line to the backheld on offense a punt formation but Fat just didn t punt He dashed down the field and a surprised Western outnt finally downed him deep in their own territory and before Western could pull them selves together an Alton touch down gave that thrilling scintillating heart pounding never to be forgotten 97 game But Fat did not make the touch down he was back in the line and the regular back held got the touch down credit and a member of the starting line up all his high school career Size and determination found Fat recovering far more than his share of re bounds and a threat under the basket Track puts a player on his own Here Fat won honors He set conference records in shot put and discus In the State meet in 1936 Fat won hrst in the discus and fourth in shot put IN SUMMARY 4 football letters 4 basketball letters 3 track letters 3 years All State Football Team Cfirst high school athlete so honoredl 36 track medals and trophies Captain of football and basket ball teams in senior year Member of Boys Cabinet and Times Staff Met requirements for honor roll two semesters A legion of friends among Alton High athletes pupils teachers and towns people 63 4' 1, . 1 1 1 1. 1 Q' 2 . 2 . r . n V , 1 , 1 ' 1 4 . 2 1 1 1' 1 I 1 ' 1 1 1 s 1 1 ' ' . 1 A . 1 ' 1 1 Y ' 5 , 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 .
