About two years ago through the aid of Mr. Turpin the National Honor Society w'1s organized 'at Alton High School. The members of the society 'are elected by the ficulty toward the close of their 4f1 semester. Fifteen per cent of the clzass selected 'rom the upper onefthird in scholarship is eligible. The letters C S L and S on the Honor Society pin stand for Character ' Schohrship Leadership 'and Service. The Honor Society consisted of five members the first semester 'and fourteen the second. During the first semester it sponsored 'a pep 1ssembly on the d'ay before the Thanksgiving football game with Western. It 'also give 'a tea for the members of the 1f1 class who made the honor rolls. During the second semester the society sponsored a program in the 'assembly which consisted of L1 play Finders Keepers given by students from Shurtleff College. A party was 'also given by the -ociety.
