Irish Flavor Fills Gym On March 15, Althoff students filled the gymnasium for another fun-filled evening of music, dancing, and laugh¬ ter. The event was the combination Valentine ' s Day St. Patrick ' s Day dance. To climax the evening ' s activi¬ ties, Gerry VonBokel was crowned our new king. The evening ' s musical sounds were provided by X-tension, an all-Alth- off band comprised of Bob Kennedy, Mark Warren, Kevin Duckworth, and Paul Quirin. The band graciously donat¬ ed its fee to Althoff ' s Scholarship Fund. Seniors enjoy the festivities. DANCE! DANCE! DANCE! X-tensions member, Kevin Duckworth, solos on the guitar. Couples dance away the evening. 22

Christmas Ball Provides Romantic Evening On Friday, December 20, 1985, Althoff ' s Annu¬ al Christmas Ball was held. It was quite a change seeing everyone in formals and suits instead of casual attire. The Student Council transformed the gym into a winter wonderland, complete with Christmas lights and other festive decorations. The band, Four of a Kind, helped to set the mood for a romantic evening. Finally, at the evening ' s culmination, Cecelia York ' s name was picked at random and she and her date, Eric Green, became The band plays a slow tune. Althoff ' s first Snow Queen and King. Eric and Cecelia are all smiles! Couples share a happy moment. Cassie Schaefer enjoys a special moment while dancing with her dad. 21

Julie and Missy inspect the fund-raising calendar. A Jim Gomric displays confidence in selling the cal¬ endars. Students show enthusiasm in the magazine drive. Free Day and Funds Earned Althoff ' s annual fund raisers surpassed everyone ' s expectations. The first calen¬ dar drive began on Nov. 12 and lasted until Dec. 7. The money obtained was well over our goal of $50,000, which rewarded the participating students, selling their quota of 4 calendars, with a free day. The annual magazine subscription drive was an overwhelming success. This year ' s drive took in over $40,000 to earn a net profit of more than $16,000 and a free day for all the students. The top selling homeroom, Fr. Voelker ' s freshman homeroom, sold 175 subscriptions, 40 over their set goal. The second place home¬ room was Mr. Podorski ' s freshmen. The top sellers in the calendar drive: Beth Golightly, Joyce Weier, Kristine Karban, Dan Korte, and Jim Gomric. Mr. Bossy ' s junior homeroom was the top homeroom in the calendar drive. 23
