amera Club Becomes More Vibrant Organization The Camera Club, under Mr. Beine’s direction, has achieved excellence in pho¬ tography unmatched in re¬ cent years. This year their accomplishments have been considerable. They have be¬ come a larger organization, acquired additional mod¬ ern photographic equip¬ ment, remodeled the Cam¬ era Club room into one large dark room, and pro¬ duced excellent photogra¬ phy for the school paper and this yearbook. They are deserving of our praise. Throughout the year the Speech Club has distinguished itself in numerous speech meets and festivals. Under the direction of Mr. James Igel and Mrs. Joyce France. The five categories in which Althoff generally enters contes¬ tants are: extemporaneous speaking, original oratory, radio speaking, oral interpretation, and duet acting. Our Speech Club regularly participated in the Bi-State Catholic Interscholastic Speech League and Illinois Catholic Speech League. In February, Althoff entered the Illinois District Speech Meet, which was the first time they took part in a non-Catholic Speech contest. Three Althoff students won medals in this meet, qualifying them to go on to regional competition.
