Time Marches On N September, 1938, we received our promotion to a higher position in the business of learning. It seems only yesterday and yet it has been four long years of happiness, work, and fellowship with one another. The day we entered high school was one to be remembered. We were a large class and it seemed as though we couldn’t all find seats that morning. Each one was talking of what he wanted to do in the future. The sun was shining in the windows and we were all so proud of ourselves. We undertook the task of completing a job to enable us to do better work in our life, but it took sometime for us to put away our childish acts which were out of place in high school. This new position offered us not only new knowledge and learning, but also a chance to acquaint ourselves with problems of everyday life, associations with individuals, and a chance to develop ourselves into industrious citizens. I guess we worried the teachers those first few weeks, because it seemed impossible for us to get our classes straight. Instead of going into freshmen classes we always went into junior or senior classes; but soon we settled down and passed our tests and examinations with good grades, and then our thoughts turned to the good times we would have in our Sophomore year. We were sorry though that some had to leave school, because we had wanted to go through school in one big group. We went to our Sophomore year to complete another step. We now realized the full meaning of loyalty, politeness, courtesy, studiousness, bravery, cooperation, and willingness to do our part. We had by this time gotten used to the routine of high school life, and we had also learned how to master our problems. Some of us began working on week-ends, and we were very industrious in keeping up with our school work as well as our outside work. We had begun by this time to work out our own questions and master them. Our advisors, so far, had given much of their time in giving us a start in our job and now in our third year, we were under way in performing our jobs. We had begun to learn the full meaning of loyalty, earnestness, studiousness and other good traits which we had attained. Of course, we had to be corrected for our faults sometimes but we didn’t hesitate to right them. We just kept forward with firm wills and made up minds. We were all very good in our tasks except for a few mischievous ones, who had not yet awakened to their problems. We did much to help others that year, and we tackled harder jobs and problems than we had ever attempted. We gave a dance for the seniors that year with the help and advice of our teacher, Miss Simmons. In our last year, we tried to gain all of the knowledge possible. We entered into things which were new to us. We asked about problems which we wished to understand and tried to review in our minds the knowledge that we had obtained. Although a war has interrupted our progress, we will keep going because we know that it is essential to be good learned American Citizens at our Country's demand at a time such as this. We will tread forward with our minds more firm than before and with a steadier step. We mean to do our part for our country and make ourselves worth while in future years. 17 NAG EAN WOES IE deh Cush Sen jal OROML
