We will always cherish memories such as. making new friends, being scolded at by our teachers, and just plain old making a fool out of ourselves in front of a crowd of people. All of these experiences have helped us to grow in many ditterent ways. The Senior class of ■1984 " will always be remembered for our spirit, our unity, our best, and last but not least for electrifying A.L.H.S. with pride. We must always think positive and be ready to step out of our shells and become a real part of society. It is up to us to keep society going and to make it a better place to live in. Every student m the senior class has matured and has shown great responsibility, to Alta Loma High. With these qualities we can set our goals and strive to reach them. When we grow old we will not look at A.L.H.S. as a joke, but instead, as our first stepping stone leading us to the top. We ' ll remember all of the friendships we ' ve made, all of the knowledge that we ' ve gained, and all of the fun times that we shared together as the class of " 84. " We must now think of life as a never ending journey. " Thank you Alta Loma High School for starting us on this journey, " I am very proud to have been the Senior Class President ot the class of " 84. " I will always cherish our memories together. BK ▼BMBH H l| H|k.- |pr.- HR In May of 1965 a group of students from Alta Loma High School hiked to the top of Ontario Peak. The students had just organized a club with Mr. Balding as the sponsor and with their new charter hikes and thousands ot miles. The Hiking club has an outing each school month some are overniters and the others are day hikes. Annual events include snow survival trip to San Gorgonio and a weekend camping trip to an island in the Pacific, Catalina. The club is attended by those who enjoy the outdoors and like to share the wilderness with friends. The hikes are often demanding and for that reason a person must run a mile in less than 8 ' ; minutes to become a member ot the club. As the sponsor. Mr. Balding likes to hike and climb. He has made several ascents of Mt. Whitney, Shasta, Rainier, Olympus and other mountains. He especially likes to hike with the tine students from Alta Loma High School and has made many friends during the past 19 years as the hiking club advisor. L to R, Brian Lewis. Dan Hohart, and Martin Peterson Hiking Club 123 Thespian Troupe The term " Thespian " ' was derived from the 6th century poet actor Thespis, known as the originator of Greek trage- dy. Thus, the Thespian troupe consists of those students interested in the culmina- tion of facets making up the ageless art of theatre. This year ' s fall production was Ketti Frmges ' adaptation from Thomas Wolte ' s " Look Homeward Angel, " a dramatic comedy of the lives of an earlv 20th century southern family. The spring production consisted of numerous one-act plays. Outside ot productions, the troupe held a talent show, saw television show taping, and viewed several college and Los Angeles productions. The purpose of Thespian troupe is not only join together those interested m theatre, but to allow students to grow through constructive self-expression, have fun. and serve the community. ?i — • L to R — Michat. li., Ann Jone iu[ii. The International Day is sponsored by the I.F.L.C. Foreign exchange students from sur- rounding high schools are invited to spend the day at Alta Loma High and visit scheduled classes where an informative exchange of cul- tures and histories take place. Various fund rais- ing and social activities are also pursued. Car washes, bake sales, beach parties and ice skating have been enjoyed by the membership. The most popular outing, however, continues to be the annual Christmas caroling. I feel that the activities carried out this year were an overall success. I had the pleasure of working with a well-organized group of officers. I wish to thank all of the people in the student body who were involved, for they now will have good times to remember. A great deal has been accomplished this year. The most significant improvemtns have been around the campus itself, such as the new paint on the lockers and the floor covering for the gym. Alta Loma High School is truly a great school. I just hope that my feelings can be shared by the rest of the student body by the time of graduation. It has been an honor to have been your president. I would like to conclude this note with one final thought: If you ever want something bad enough, you can have it, but you ' ve got to go for it. " Ui -iRiigrsij: A.S.B. You are your world. ' ■ ' « Play iiiitjikil The 1984 plav production was Look Homeward, Angel. The scene starts out at a Dixieland Boarding house in the fall oi 1916. The characters of the play were brought out individually by each actor. Eugene was such a character who was immature and was slowly growing up with the help of his brother Ben and his first love, Laura James. She helped him have the courage to eave his mother and be independent. His mother was a domineering char- acter who thought she knew what was goc)d tor everyone around. His father didn ' t help him much. Aside from coming home drunk half the time, he was also cruel and rude. It was well done and the cast was great. " There was a small kingdom ruled over by a talkative queen and a mute king. Prince Dauntless was their son hoping to wed someone soon. 12 Princesses were put to several different tests to wed the prince but tor some reason or another, were found to be unsuitable. Then came along Princess Win- nifred. She was tested by Queen Aggravain and the Wizard for " Sen- sitivity. " She placed a small pea un- derneath 20 soft downy mattresses. To make sure she would sleep, she held a ball to tire her out and hyp- notized her with a hypnotic mirror, gagged her with a heavy incense, and gave her a soothing brew to make her sleep like a baby. Alas, the Princess could not sleep and in the morning everyone knew that they could not get mar- ried. And everyone lived Happily Ever After. Parent and student support at sporting events is very important to the suc- cess of teams. I am proud to say that this is something we have had plenty of. I know that our school spirit will get increasingly better now that the first class of freshmen will be upper classmen, vet I feel this year will be remembered as one of the best. I will be proud and honored to say that I was a Senior at Alta Loma High School in 1984. In loving loyalty Jade A. I am very proud of the young people I get to work with in Yearbook, ASB, and Wrestling. My involvement with them always gives my pride in A.L.H.S. a little added boost. Alta Loma High School, give yourself a round of applause. You deserve it!! Tony Grasso 1983-84 has been a year of new challenges, of which yearbook presented a new twist at every turn. My warmest of hugs to the staff, from whom I learned patience and dedication. If loss of hair means wisdom — I am now a wise man.
