pretty gurls stepped happuly aboard the
Great Wusdom Zephyr at Alta Consolu
dated School on September 5 l938
The Zephyr whuch was due at 9 OO A
M had just pulled unto the statuon and
thurty chubby hands were wavung reluctant
ly to parents standung on the platform
The conductor yelled All Aboard and
the Zephyr of Great Wusdom had begun

a touchdown in the last quarter of the
game. The larger part of Primghar's
touchdowns were made on short runs. The
final score was Primghar 44 and Alta 20.

ln the seventh game ot the season Alta
tackled the unbeaten Sanborn team San
born had the advantage in size and weight
and during the whole game they were not
penalized Running the opening kickoff
for a touchdown Sanborn started toward
their seventh victory of the year ln the
first quarter Lowell Lichtenberg was in
lured while passing and was unable to play
the rest of the season Although Lowell
was out Tom Chase did a good job at the
quarterback slot The final score was San

The Alta Cyclones iourneyed to Suther
land and defeated the Bulldogs 35 to 20
game for the seniors in their high school
football career. The season's record was 2
won and 6 loss. Jerry Christensen was the
leading scorer for Alta, getting fourteen
points. Jerry l-luseman played an outstand-
ing game catching two long passes and one
of tnem was for a touchdown One of the
outstanding things ot the Cyclones was
their spirit throughout the entire season

The Cyclones journeyed to Spencer for
their first out of town game and came
home with their second victory The team
played one of their best games of the sea-
son against the Tigers who were rated one
of the top teams in Northwest lowa.

The Cyclones won their third game of
the year by beating Hayes on the home
floor. The team showed up good for this
early in the season.

The Cyclones absorbed their worst loss
in almost five years at the hands of the tall
Paullina Panthers. This was the Cyclones
first game in two weeks.

Alta won from Newell for their sixth
straight victory. lt was a tough game all
the way and the Cyclones proved too much
