Wrestling The wrestling team was willing to work hard and showed a lot of improvement through the year , commented coach Jim Hagler. Other coaches in the Trico League must have noticed the same thing because they voted Alsea's team for the Most lmproved trophy. It was a young team - half its members were first year wrestlers, with Kurt Stone the only senior. Despite this lack of experience, the team placed fourth in district, beating Harrisburg for the first time. Donnie Pellett placed third in district, Kurt Stone and Ftobert Tapp placed fourth, and everyone else on the team tied for fifth. Hagler felt the team's success resulted from a lot of pins. One highlight of the season was winning two tournaments in one week. Hagler said that while Alsea has always had good individual wrestlers, the team hadn't often placed as well as it did this year. , J, Above: Jim Lang counters an opponent's takedown.
