LIBRARY It was a busy year for the library. Many books had to be catalogued including the Cecil Hayden Collec- tion. Mr. Hayden donated many books to the Alsea School library. High school classes used the library on a regular basis for research and study. Mrs. Jones worked with both secondary and elementary students. Students worked on a variety of projects including mime, slide tape shows, puppet making, video tape projects, and book making. He in- cluded shorthand, bookkeeping, data processing, busi- ness math, business machines, typing skills, and office procedures in his business lab class. CAREER ED Three teachers shared the career ed. class. Students rotated every 12 weeks. Mr. Hagler directed office skills and job application: Mr. Atwood had students work in the shop and learn pruning and grafting. MATH CIE CE Science teachers this year were Jerry Phelps who taught biology and advanced biology, Pe- ter Shoshin who also taught biology, and Ron Nicholson who taught chemistry. Math teachers included Mr. Nicholson, Mr. Shoshin, and Jim Hagler. This year the math classes were all taught during one period to allow for flexibility in student scheduling.
