CHEERLEADERS The cheerleaders went to cheerleading clinics in Albany and Eugene to get cheer- ing ideas, tips and routines. They also had two bake sales and two sock hops for mon- ey raising projects. Alsea's varsity cheerleaders were: Cap- tain Kathy Wilson, Sherri Borton and Debbie Bowen. Junior varsity cheer- leaders were: Captain Wendie Riley and Tami Jo Hendrix. This year's mascot was Vickie Riley, but she had to resign due to an injury. Pam Parady served as their ad- viser. TRACK Coach Shoshin felt the team had a really super year. Alsea won the League Invitational Meet at Har- risburg both boys and girls. Ninth place at district put them at the top of our league. Juniors, Shorty Bowen and Steve Campbell, quali- fied for state in the shot putt and long jump.
