OFFICERS TOP: Bobby Johnson, W.B. Miller and Roy Williams. BOTTOM: Donald Cleaver and Donnie Newberry. ALMO JR. CONSERVATION CLUB The Almo Jr. Conservation Club was organized in the fall of 1952. The purpose ofthe club is to teach game conservation and good sportsmanship in the woods, in the fields, and on the streams. Our club holds a meetin once a month with our resident Donnie Newberr 9 P Y presiding along with the assistance of Mr. J.B. McClain and Mr. J.O. Reeves, our conser- I vation officers. Mr. W.B. Miller is our sponsor. ,In our club meetings, we discuss the game and fish re-stocking program, deer hunts, goose and duck hunts, and other phases of outdoor life. This year through the supervision of Mr. J.B. McClain and Mr. W.B. Miller we went on a coon hunt in the Kentucky Woodlands game refuge. A total of four raccoon were caught, brought back home, and turned loose in CIark's River Bottom. ln the spring the conservation club stages a mo-skeet shoot. There are different age groups and the champion of each age group meets later on in the year with boys of other clubs for the area championship. Last Bobby Johnson and Jerry Byerly represented our conservation club. ln the summer, after school is out, the members of our conservation club, who want to, may go and spend a week at Camp Curie. Camp Curie is sponsored by our conservation clubs throughout the state and our Fish and Wildlife Division of the state of Kentucky. We have twenty-seven members this year. 40
