24456 The class of 1959 began their world tour in 1946 with seven members. They left from Allison, Iowa. The ones starting on the trip were: Sheryol Fick, Darla VanRaden, Gail Brocka, Colette Folkers, Wayne Busch, Jerald Heeren, and Charles Allison. The first stop was at Chicago where we boarded a Greyhound bus for Boston. Bobby Miller and Anna Mae Leerhoff joined us before we left. Before we arrived at Boston, Anna Mae left us to wait for another bus. At Boston we boarded a luxury liner for England. On the cruise to England, Bob Uhlenhopp decided to join us. We left England and our third stop was to be Paris, France. In one of the street cafes, we noticed four singing waiters and a singing waitress. They decided to join us. They were: Richard Smith, Robert Wettering, Harold Allan, Keith Meyers, and Mary Ellen Mehmen. After our stay in Paris, we left for Madrid, Spain. While watching the bullfights, we were introduced to two of Spain's most famous women matadois. They were: Shirley Heinz and Jane Rubendall. We persuaded them to leave their present occupations and join usg however, they became tired of traveling and went back to Spain. We crossed the Mediterranean Sea and docked in Cairo, Egypt at Pier 5. While touring through one of the pyramids, the guide opened four mummy casings and Rodney Langfritz, Harriet Fecht, Mavis Hinders, and John Utterback stepped out and joined our cruise. We took a safari into darkest Africa and when we stopped at our sixth native village, John Utterback was captured by the natives in our attempt to rescue the English scientists Kent Kussatz, Sandra Lubben, Kenny Bertram, and Gordon Gorsuch. We were fleeing for our lives so we had to leave John behind. Leaving Africa, we headed for Australia for our seventh stop. Watching the kangaroos jump caught our eye and we went to try to find out what makes them jump. Sheryol Fick and Gordon Gorsuch were so intent upon making a thorough investigation that they fell into one of the kangaroo pouches and couldn't get out again. We continued our journey without them. Our mode of transportation to Japan was a famous blimp, the No. 8. While visiting the soldiers at the American Air Force Base there, we met a group of entertainers. They were Gary Hackbarth, Larry Evert, Erwin Uhlenhopp, Shirley Dralle, and Mildred Adelmund. Our ninth stop was at China. We gained five members to our tour. They were: Judy Miller, Patrick Feltus, Eileen Hahn, Marla Senne, and Vesta Smoot. These people went with us to Moscow. Our tenth stop gave us eight more members. These people were escaping from behind the Iron Curtain. They were: Robert Dralle, Lester Dralle, Jack Brown, Janice Rindels, Sharron Schriever, Pauline and Douglas Manifold, and Dennis Schroeder. The Communists recaptured Erwin Uhlenhopp, Mavis Hinders, Lester Dralle, Robert Dralle, and Mildred Adelmund. Greenland was our eleventh stop. The climate was pleasing to Jack Brown, Douglas Manifold, Pauline Manifold, and Dennis Schroeder, so they stayed at Greenland. Gloria Miller joined us. We started our journey home and arrived in Allison, Iowa, in 1959, with the following members: Gail Brocka Eileen Hahn Judy Miller Wayne Busch Jerald Heeren Janice Rindels Shirley Dralle Kent Kussatz Sharron Schriever Larry Evert Rodney Langfritz Marla Senne Harriet Fecht Sandra Lubben Vesta Smoot Patrick Feltus Bobby Miller Darla VanRaden Colette Folkers Gloria Miller Robert Wettering
