To the Future
It is fitting that we, the January and June classes of '44, dedicate our
Chronicle to something we revere and respect, something in which we put
our trust and our hope.
Therefore, it with this thought in mind that we dedicate ourselves
and our book to the future: to the future of our class and the classes gone
before us and the classes to come-the future that we look forward to with
eagerness and renewed courage, to the future of our school, where we have
grown from adolescence to adulthood, seen peace go and war come grimlyg
to the future of a nation where we may live to plan and meet our future in
safety and in joy, to the future of a world drawing nearer to lasting peace,
a world where all men shall be free and equal, united by one common bond
of brotherhood.
The past is behind us, but the future is yet to come. We dedicate our
book and ourselves to making it a future of promise and fruitfulness.

From Out Our Past
Oh, how well we remember that first day in high school! This big building with so
many stairways and rooms in which to get lost was so confusing to us. Of course, as
green "freshies," we fell for the old gags of the seniors, even to looking for the mythi-
cal elevator. Very soon though, the strangeness wore off, and we found our place in
school affairs.
The clamor which could be heard in 101 after school on March 21, 1941 was caused
by our first class meeting at which we became organized. The officers whom We elected
were: Donald Felgar, president, Dean Ashbrook, vice president, Vera Alfani, secretary,
Shirley Miller, treasurer. Mr. James Wilhelm accepted the patronship of our class.
Our first social gathering was a party in the Log Cabin at Silver Park. With an
eye to increasing our treasury for the future prom we would give, the class sold pencils
which were inscribed with the school's name. To round out the year we held a Christ-
mas party at the Y. M. C. A.
The school life had changed for us now for we were upperclassmen. A change in
officers was brought about in an election. Patricia Green became vice president and
Catherine Cox was secretary. We began work on a new project of selling Everyday
Greeting Cards. This proved very successful for the class.
The fall term found us without a patron because Mr. Wilhelm had enlisted in the
Navy. This was remedied when Miss Ruth Weaver graciously accepted the position.
Since Don Felgar decided to graduate in June '43, we had to hold a new election.
Those elected to office were Walter Wollam, presidentg James Pappenhagen, vice presi-
dent. Cox and Miller remained in their offices.
Who of those present will ever forget the Prom of All Nations on January 16, 1943?
The dancers enjoyed Earl Jones' music, under a column of flags of the United Nations
and with the portraits of the leaders of the four great Allied nations watching them.
As seniors we realized that graduation was approaching when the measurements
for rings were taken. We gave a farewell party for Mr. Husat in the form of a treasure
hunt at the Big Log Cabin in Silver Park.
"The Charge of the Very Light Brigade," our play, was given December 10 with
Helen Greek and James Pappenhagen in the lead. No seniors will ever forget General
Octave Talaba who won top honors in the ticket sale in the contest between the home
rooms 221 and 222.
The Chronicle staff and all the graduation committees were appointed and the grad-
uation machinery began to grind. Because of our small size everyone had a job to ac-
complish.
"The best senior chapel I have seen," was the comment of Principal Walter Webb on
our "Minstrel Show" chapel. The seniors marched onto the stage to form the red, white,
and blue background for the entertainers. With Sam Reale and Kenny Cade as clowns
and Howard Shackel as M. C., the show brought out much of our hidden talent. As we
gave the gavel to our successors our red and silver ribbons were added.
In the hustle of the last week, the senior banquet was held at the Woman's Club.
The musical theme was carried out cleverly in the decorations and program. Mr. Cop-
pock gave sound advice to us in the speech on "Future Harmonies." As Aregutha Nich-
olson played "Farewell to Thee," a feeling of sadness crept into many seniors' minds.
Our first appearance in caps and gowns was made on January 23 for Baccalaureate
at the First Methodist Church where Reverend McCallum delivered the sermon.
As a fitting climax our impressive graduation following the theme: "What Is Worth
Fighting For?" was held in the auditorium January 27, 1944. Thus we have tried in
our four years to be true to our motto: "Deeds not words."
With many treasured memories of good times and carefree days we bid a fond adieu
to our high school.

ROBERT KRAHLING MAXINE SANTSCHI MARTHA SCOTT
Vice-President Secretary Treasurei-
With Fondest M emories
As freshmen when we entered the resound-
ing chambers of AHS, all of us were entering
into a completely new and different world.
Some faced it boldly, some timidly, and some
even a little fearfully. What strange and start-
ling experiences were in store for us no one
could tell. But after the first few weeks of
newness wore off, and upperclassmen ceased
staring, we began the never-ceasing round of
studies in earnest. We took in our stride new
experiences and changes as only seasoned vet-
erans can. Thus passed our freshman year,
evermore to haunt us with its trial and errors.
The organization of our class was left until
our population was stabilized and until we
gained a little more experience in such matters.
But as a result of the assembly period discus-
sions on democracy, one of our assembly rooms,
101,'staged a political battle, with the winning
party left in control.
Our classmates from State Street had just
joined us when, as 10B's, we held our first class
meeting to organize. The officers whom we
chose then have held their positions through-
out their high school careers.
As president, Frank Rodgers led the list. The
vice president's chair was taken by Bob Krahl-
ing and the secretary's books were handed to
Maxine Santschi. The finances have been han-
dled by Martha Scott. Mr. William Anderson
was elected patron.
Our sophomore year was interrupted and the
whole nation shaken by the Japanese attack on
Pearl Harbor. It didn't give its full meaning
at first, but we could easily see things were go-
ing to be a lot different from here on. Feeling
the first effects of a nation at war, we didn't
hold any special activities or sell things to fill
our treasury. Instead, our already decreasing
numbers gave full attention to school and out-
side work.
The next year, a defense job called Mr. An-
derson away from our school and Miss Ruth
Dowler was selected to fill his place. New war-
time courses began to appear in the schedule.
Girls and boys alike strove toward physical fit-
ness with the new pre-induction gym. That
funny thing called rationing made its debut.
The students went all-out in the sale of bonds
and stamps in their assembly rooms and earned
the privilege of flying the coveted Minute-Man
flag. The new Victory Corps was formed with
great enthusiasm and clubs participated in de-
fense activities.
The junior year of the average high school
student holds one main attraction - the prom.
Bill Rodgers and Phil Meismer held the reins
as co-chairmen and a western theme was se-
lected. On May 22, the gym was decorated to
the hilt with cardboard horses, cowboys and
cowgirls, and the floor was corralled off with a
high cardboard fence. We thrilled to the syn-
copation of Earl Jones and his orchestra. Color,
music, and hilarious entertainment -- all west-
ern - made the Bar '44 Round-up Prom the
biggest and best ever!
Our senior year! To start off a grand fare-
well, a Halloween party under the general di-
rection of Al Rogel was staged at Morgan's
gym, everyone having a wonderful time. The
year has proved to be a busy one, taking time
out for ring measurements, picture taking, in-
vitations, name cards, and cap and gown meas-
urements, to say nothing of the time spent by
the Chronicle stad. On the social end, dances
and parties and club farewells took the lime-
light. Teachers were plagued with the trading
of friendship pictures and name cards. Senior
chapel seemed to catch us all by the throat. A
serious note was struck at our Baccalaureate
services when it was explained to us what we
are facing. And as a grand finale, the curtain
was run down on our number, reduced to nearly
half its original sum, at commencement exer-
cises held June 1 in the auditorium with mem-
bers of our own class as chief speakers.
Black and Aqua were chosen as our class
colors and our motto stands thus: "Today
Makes Tomorrowf' And so shall we, the stu-
dent generation of the Allied Nations, out of
the war-ravaged world of today, design the
good will and peace maintaining nation of to-
morrow.
And so, with a little catch in our voice, we
bid good-bye to our Alma Mater.

Fall Varieties Goes Patriotic
'Tm a yankee doodle dandy" sounded
through the auditorium the nights of October
21 and 22 as the cadets marched into our mythi-
cal Camp Bennett, so named to honor Lieuten-
ant Robert Bennett, former faculty "Varieties"
star now somewhere in Italy.
The curtain rose on the opening chorus, dedi-
cated to Americans who left play suits for work
suits and swingtime for marchtime.
An official welcome was extended by Major
Fred Doerr to "Curly Errol 1Tom Leoj and the
M. C.'s, Phil Meismer and Earl Sheehan.
Tribute was paid to the "Rosies" who have
left their homes for factories by "The Rivetersi'
f"Sissy" Cassidy, Lois Ann Myers, and Betty
Bossert.J
Our cry of "Victory" was well presented by
the songs of the "Three Dots and a Dash,"
fVera Alfani, Elsie Roose, Myra White, and
Shirley Sadler.J
Bill Rodgers, Warren Hardy, Al Mayer, and
Jack Robinson became "Musical Chefs" for the
night - bakers' hats, moustaches, and all.
The Signal Chorus waved out messages with
their semaphore flags and then a salute was
paid to Russia in the form of Minka, with Lois
Stuckey on the violin, "Red" Rasile as vocalist,
and dance by Sally Wagner.
Professor Pumprimer, Walt Wollam, and his
"Try and Get It" Radio Hour had them rolling
in the aisle. Bob Krahling recited some of his
so-called poems and Dick Seidner and Pete
Shupe added their bit.
"Stormy Weather" was arranged to show the
musical ages of man. Betty Jones sang it and
for weeks "Stormy Weather" was the most
popular song in the high school.
Mary Messenheimer was featured in a Strob-
lite Toe Tap number. The lights went out and
an "oh" passed through the audience as she
glowed in the dark.
Suddenly the notes of a classic swept over
the audience and held them spellbound in their
seats. It was Carmella Presuttol Fall Va-
rieties of 1943 lived up to its name in having
variety.
Ah, the chorus created especially for the boys
-the Maracca Chorus! They marked time to
the tune of "Mama Inez," a fitting end for Act
I.
The high-stepping Bomba-dears opened the
curtain on Act II. 'Twas a sight to behold --
their red, white, and blue.
Never will "The Song Blazers" be forgotten
with their red and black striped jackets and
straw hats.
Earl Jones and his band shone forth with
"Sugar Foot Stomp."
Marie Evans offered her "Yankee Doodle Sa-
lute" in the form of a song and dance followed
by "Donkey Serenade" featuring Lois Stuckey.
"Dancing Dobbin," Alverda Barber, and Isa-
belle Hunt, performed while its mistress "Poet-
sie," Helen Greek, looked on.
There was the West in Song by Beckie Miller,
the West in Dance by Donna Day with spurs
that 'jingled and jangled,' and the West in
Chorus with lariat tricks.
On the definitely humorous side there was
the faculty's "Murder Opera Inc." composed of
Earl Kidwell, Eleanor Garman, Leonard
Hoppes, Wanda Niznick, Leland Whitacre, Mar-
garet Noble, Ruth Dowler, Jerry Mosher, Wil-
liam Dakin, and Ray Reighartg and the boys'
"Powder Room Panicf' with Murray Rhue, Jack
Mainwaring, Tom Lotze, Jerry Hirschl, and
John Benincasa.
The twinkling feet of two great stars,
"Dotty" Arnold and Donna Day, were .busy dur-
ing the "Duel of the Dancers," followed by the
"Parade of ,Songs" .featuring Shirley Sadler
and "Red" Rasile.
"Dotty" Arnold was featured in "Ravel's Ba-
lero" and "Keep 'em Rolling," a dance on roller
skates.
The whole cast assembled for the finale and
"P. T. Barnum" Whitacre was presented with a
gift. "Whit" was the writer, producer, and di-
rector of the show.
The girls in the choruses were: Beverly Hen-
ricks, Anna Coco, Maxine Santschi, Rosalyn
Cironi, Mary Ann Paese, Barbara Hoierman,
Kathleen Sebrell, Margaret Whitaker, Eileen
Nettro, Arlene Stuckey, LaRue Culberson, Jean
Doody, Janet Varner, Sara Coco, Elsie Roose,
Kay Dilley, Elsie Bericchia, Sue Worley, Gloria
Gorun, Beckie Miller, Kathie Thompson, Joyce
Wymer, Carolyn Dimit, Helen Greek, Sally
Wagner, Mary Jo Hoiles, Shirley Oswalt, Janice
Polen, Mary Ann Sandru, Treva Hostettler,
Lorna Wymer, Martha Leyda, Lottie Lorbach,
and Cherie Shook.
All ticket and attendance records were brok-
en for this "show that has the whole town talk-
ing."

Aviators Experience Lean Season
Coach Leonard "Dutch', Hoppes led his 1943
edition of the Aviators' football squad through
a rather mediocre season. Although they
seemed on the receiving end of many lop-sided
scores the team was impressive even in defeat.
We Travel to NVooster
Traveling to Wooster on September 17 the
Aviators played a bang-up football game to win
the "43" lid-lifter 18-6. With the Rodgers to
Rodgers passing combination clicking consist-
ently, Alliance covered themselves with glory.
Taking to the road for the second successive
week to play the Conneaut Trojans the Alliance
team completely outclassed the heavier squad
to bring home another victory, this time 25 to
12.
First Home Game Is Successful
In the iirst home game of the season, Alliance
took on a highly touted East Liverpool aggre-
gation. After a gruelling battle the Aviators
turned back the Potters 12-0. However, the
game proved costly because the squad lost the
service of Bill Rodgers who was injured in the
first half.
It was an over-confident team that went on
to face their next opponents and the Aviators
tasted the bitterness of defeat. Youngstown
South stalled the winning streak to the tune of
a 13-0 Whitewash.
Alliance Startles Tigers
With grim determination the Aviators
trained their ,bomb-sights on the lair of the
A15
Massillon Tigers, 5 Exhibiting an inspired brand
of ball, Alliance threw a real scare into the Mas-
sillon partisans by holding their squad, to a
0-0 score first half. In the second half, capitaliz-
ing on two breaks, Massillon scored twice to pull
the game out of the lire and win 12-0. Stopping
the Tigers' backs with bruising tackles and
throwing crushing blocks the Aviators' line
was definitely at their peak. Alliance was next
trounced by Canton Lincoln 19-0. The Aviators
appeared sluggish in this fray perhaps because
of a letdown after the Massillon battle.
Youngstown Chaney was the next foe and the
Aviators sent them reeling in defeat 20-7.
Again the Alliance forward wall stood out.
Injury Jinx Haunts Aviators
Canton McKinley then invaded Alliance. Two
Aviators were not at a physical peak because
of the injury jinx which dogged them all sea-
son. Momentary-lapses in pass defense caused
a few long gains which eventually produced the
necessary touchdowns to send Alliance down in
defeat 31-0. Lakewood was next on the Aviat-
ors' schedule. Playing on their snow-covered
field Alliance again tasted defeat 25-6. With
six regulars out because of injuries Alliance
was no match for the powerful Campbell Me-
morial squad and again the Aviators went
down, this time 25-0. This closed one of the
leanest seasons Alliance has experienced in re-
cent years.
Eleven Play Last Game
Eleven senior gridders played their last game
for the Aviators against Campbell Memorial.
They were Ray Allcorn, Kenny Chapman, War-
ren Hardy, Bob Krahling, Leonard McClarren,
Dick Nicholson, Bill and Frank Rodgers, Dick
Seidner, Walt Wollam, and Al Mayer.
Krahling, Robinson, Frank Rodgers and Walt
Wollam were accorded All-County recognition
and Rodgers was chosen on the third All-Ohio
eleven.
Coach Hoppes was ably assisted this season
by Gerald Mosher, Ernest Carli, Walter Headly
and Glen W. Dicken. To these men goes much
of the credit for the success of the Aviator
stalwarts.

Freshmen Play Short Season
Coach Wilson Stump's gridders played a
short season due to a late organization of the
team. Assisted by George Davidson's coach-
ing, Coach Stump's team centered around Dick
Strait, Dean Russ ,and Dee Jones in the back-
field with Jack Thomas, Joe Peters, Paul Duffy,
Bob Whitaker, Gary Rein, and Gerald Stotts
on the line.
The team went first to Massillon and played
Edmond Jones Junior High School. After four
gruelling quarters the Freshmen lost by a score
of 13-7. The next game was with Longfellow
Junior High School, also of Massillon. The
Freshmen also lost this game by the score of
38-0. The traditional rivals of the Alliance
High Freshmen, State Street Junior High, was
the last opponent of the Freshmen. Joe Quin-
ean's State Street team defeated the Freshmen
13-0.

Banquet Honors Squad
Aviator "gridders" Wednesday night, Decem-
ber 15, at a banquet in their honor at the Alli-
ance Country Club.
The banquet was held under the sponsorship
of the Young Men's Club and the Alliance High
School athletic association with Leland Whit-
acre serving as toastmaster.
"Bo" McMillin, head football coach at the
University of Indiana, was the principal speak-
er. McMillin was also the head speaker at the
1941 banquet.
Coach Hoppes presented letters to Virgil
Bench, Kenneth Chapman, Warren Hardy, Bob
Krahling, Donald Lawther, Albert Mayer, Leon-
ard McClarren, Richard Nicholson, Richard
Polverine, Jack Post, Jack Robinson, Bill Rodg-
ers, Frank Rodgers, John C. Rodgers, Richard
Seidner, John Snodgrass, Atlee Sponseller,
Robert Tanner, Lee Thompson, Jim Thorpe, and
Walter Wollam. Ray Allcorn's letter was given
to his brother who was among the guests.
One of the main events of the evening was
the awarding of the outstanding player trophy
to Frank Rodgers. This is Coach Hoppes' own
trophy which he gives to the player of the most
value to the team. The selection was based on
his outstanding record for the year and also on
the opinions of opposing coaches. Gold foot-
balls were presented to five seniors who have
three years' squad experience and two were giv-
en varsity letters. These boys are: Warren
Hardy, Bob Krahling, Albert Mayer, Frank
Rodgers, and Walter Wollam.
Added color to the occasion was given by the
special guests, and the appearance of Kim
"Santa Claus" Brown, beard and all, with his
many appropriate gifts added a dash of humor
to the occasion. His presentation of mistletoe
to two of the football players, a live duck to
Queen Lorma Wymer, and a beautiful girl to
Coach Elwood Kammer of Massillon roused
rounds of laughter from all those present.

Mosher Sets Season Pace
Preparing for the ,basketball season Coach
"Jerry" Mosher gave the boys a menu of train-
ing and more training.
In the season's opener this emphasis proved
its value. The varsity cagers trounced Sebring
and through the eyes of the fans a good season
seemed in store.
Following this victory the team took the
measure of Wadsworth and Campbell Memorial
in short order.
Canton Timken Defeats Aviators
In the next tussle the Canton Timken squad
pulled into town and though they defeated our
Aviators they really had a tough time. Final
score was 33-22.
The high spot in the season came when the
favored McKinley Bulldogs tasted bitter defeat
on their own floor. The Aviators took them
down 31-28. In this game Canton didn't score
a point from action in the entire first half.
After a close fought loss to Salem the cagers
defeated Uhrichsville.
Then came successive defeats at the hands of
Massillon and Youngstown South.
Play Finest Game
The finest game of the season was played
against Barberton. Our boys handed the
Magics a 41-29 pasting.
Canton St. John, Warren Harding, and Salem
defeated our cagers in three successive games..
The next week they did a rebound and de-
feated Canton Lincoln.
Once again the ill-fated streak caught up
with them. Result was a loss to Massillon and
Canton McKinley. The basketeers then defeat-
ed Wellsville but finished the season falling be-
fore East Liverpool in the Aviators' poorest
played game of the season.
Sudeck Rates "Top,'
Little "Hansi" Sudeck led the Red and Blue
attack most of the season. Opponents soon
learned to fear him when he was enjoying a
"hot streak." Frank Rodgers should be given
praise for his consistent work around the back
boards. In fact, a great deal of credit goes to
the remainder of the squad who were also "in
there pitching."
The ten lettermen of the season were Chap-
man, Rodgers, Mayer, Sudeck, Mayer, Wollam,
Talaba, Snodgrass, Sackett, and Robinson.
Next Season Difficult
The Aviators will be hit hard when next
year's drills begin. Chapman, Rodgers, Mayer
and Sudeck will ,be lost via graduation. How-
ever the reserve squad will provide a wealth of
material and we can expect big things of the
future wearers of the Red and Blue if they keep
up the fighting spirit that was shown in many
of the games this season.
Hardwood Heroes Are Feted
Alliance High School honored the 1943-44
Aviator basketball team at the annual banquet
held March 24 at the Woman's Club.
Marvin Tilley served as toastmaster for the
evening. He introduced Superintendent Rus-
sell Schafer, Principal Walter Webb, Athletic
Director R. S. Coppock, Lowell Lamb, principal
of State Street Jr. High, Joe Quillan, coach at
State Street, Wilson Stump, freshman coach,
"Dutch" Hoppes and Coach Jerry Mosher.
Coach Jerry Mosher gave a brief talk, as did
the others who were introduced, and then pre-
sented letters and gold basketballs. Those who
had served three years on the varsity for their
gold basketballs were: Co-captains Frank Rodg-
ers and Bill Sudeck. Kenny Chapman, and
Walt Wollam also received gold basketballs.
Mosher then presented letters to the following
boys: Frank Rodgers, Bill Sudeck, Jack Robin-
son, Kenny Chapman, Al Mayer, Dick Sackett,
John Snodgrass, Octavia Talaba, and George
Dietrich. Walt Wollam received his letter in
January, before entering the U. S. Navy.
The banquet was sponsored by the Young
Men's Club of the city. Funds were also pro-
vided from the Varsity-Faculty game at the
close of the regular season.
Alliance recorded nine wins against ten losses
in regular season play. They fell to the Polar
Bears of Canton Lehman in the district tourna-
ment.

The Reserves Break Even
The Reserve basketball team under Coach Al
Whittingham had a fairly successful season,
breaking even in 18 tilts. Throughout the sea-
son the team was potentially strong, but in
many instances could not muster the necessary
spirit. The loss of a few key players, via in-
eligibility, in the latter part of the season took
away much of their punch. Lee Thompson and
Don Maple were the big "guns" of the season.
One of their finest uphill battles came in the
Canton St. John fray. A good Crusader squad
was playing a nip and tuck battle. The final
score was 40-34, but it was not decided until
the dying minutes of the game. This is typical
of the lighting Reserve squad that took the
floor this year.
Two Man Team Represents AHS
There was no organized track squad this year
because of spring football practice. However
little Jim Hanny and Charles Bennett took it
upon themselves to enter various track meets
throughout the state. Jim rapidly developed
into the "king" of Stark County milers and
ranked in the top ten milers of the state. In
the All State competition at Columbus he
placed sixth. "Chuck" Bennett who usually
accompanied Jim also won several honors for
himself. The two ,boys "hitch-hiked" to and
from each meet they entered. Alliance High is
proud of these two boys who are now in the
service.
Unfavorable Weather Curtails Tennis Season
There were no home games in '43 because
rainy weather prevented the tennis courts from
being conditioned. However three out of town
matches were played. At Sebring, Alliance
won a hard fought match 3 to 2. Canton Lin-
coln was next subdued 4 to 2. Alliance then
went to Struthers and lost the match, 4 to 3.
Coach William Gross's team consisted of Don
Felgar, Harry Eccleston, Edgar Shirk, Bob
Bay, and John Snelling of whom Felgar, Eccles-
ton, and Shirk received their letters.
The 1944 schedule will undoubtedly be short-
ened because of the war. With only Bay and
Shirk of the '43 team slated to return, Coach
Gross will have several important positions to
iill. The remainder of the '43 team was lost
via graduation in June of '43,
Traveling Conditions Result in Abbreviated Schedule
The four boys chosen to represent Alliance
High on the golf courses were No. 1 man, Sam
Reale, No. 2 man, Jack Dawson, No. 3 man,
Octave Talaba and No. 4 man, Jack Mainwar-
ing. Also, Frank Kacarab always played a fifth
man or else took Mainwaring's place. Reale,
Dawson, Talaba, and Mainwaring were letter-
men.
Lack of transportation facilities prevented
Coach Ray Reighart's team from playing many
matches and as a result Canton McKinley was
the only team played. Alliance played McKin-
ley five times and defeated them here once with
Girls Learn To Take It
"Dress-right, Dress - attention - forward
march-left-right, left-right, left-right," these
are some of the commands given by Miss Pettis
during the marching drill. This drill was fol-
lowed by muscle strengthening exercises, which
left most girls stiff for several days, until it was
worked out with folk dancing. The echo of "for-
ward, sideward, upward, back"-still rings in
our ears.
Besides these, soccer, volleyball, and basket-
ball, were taught.
The G. A. C. found itself in some difficulty
the past year with the new time schedule,
which permitted only forty-tive minutes for
basketball and softball after school.
Gas and tire rationing played the part of fate
when it came to archery, for it was impossible
Canton the scene of our four defeats. Canton
McKinley had a great team in '43, going on to
win the State Tournament for the first time in
its history.
The outlook for a '44 team will be darkened
greatly because of the war. Having lost Jack
Dawson through graduation in June, '43, and
Talaba and Reale through January '44 gradua-
tion, Coach Reighart will try to mold a squad
out of Frank Kacarab, Jack Mainwaring, Phil
Meismer, William Coventry, Josh Dawson, Bob
Shively, and Pete Zapolski.
to get to Silver Park - therefore, no archery.
The fall sports were soccer and volleyball. It
is little wonder that some of the girls had
skinned shins after a rousing game of soccer,
but it was good clean fun and exercise. Volley-
ball was composed of eight teams. Competitive
playing existed between the classes with the
10B class, the winnah!
Bowling found its way into the program with
a bang, when one hundred people turned out
for this sport. Due to lack of space, a double
shift was formed so that all could participate.
"The girls of the school have found that
there is always some sport in progress, and
they all know they are welcome if they have the
time and desire to come out," stated Miss
Pettis. ,
