l A PQ. f illili L CH 0 sl!.!llif N IZUUTIBALI. CHOOL had been opened only a few days when Yvinnie Slemmer, coach par excellence, called on candidates for football. The summons was answered by about fifty-five fellows. It sure looked like a wealth of material. Three or four weeks of hard practise, during which time almost half the squad dropped off, and the team was in shape for its first game. On October twenty-ninth, the team left for Harrisburg to play its first game. Beckley College was the victim. On a field of shiny mud Prep. battered its way to an impressive 15-0 victory over Beckley. Our next opponent was Peddie. VVe were vanquished 7-6 at Hightstown. Mercersburg loomed on the horizon as our next foe. An over-night trip. lVhoopiel St. Thomas' Hotel sure had some excitement that night. Next day we left for Nlercersburg. It was a swell game which we should have won but didn't. The final score was 0-0 and a good time was had by all. After the Nlercersburg game the team was told of the mighty powers of Ursinus. Prep. entered that game with the old Die for Dear Old Rutgers! spirit. Since it was the first home game the boys wanted to show the home folks how it was done fthe girls were included in thatj. Ursinus put forth its best fight- ing spirit but to no avail. Prep. ran rough shod and trampled them 2640. Lehigh Frosh came next. They had a heavy team and a former Perkin star in the backfield. Ah! Revenge is sweetl Prep. sunk Lehigh 6-0. Lehigh was utterly helpless. The game of gamesl ARMY PLEBESl Prep. went to old lVest Point with a grudge over last years defeat at the hands of the Cadets. The treatment and sleeping quarters the boys got softened them a little. The kick off brought it all back though. Right then and there it started. Yvavrek got peeved and made a touchdown and the try after it was good. Army scored somehow or other but couldn't make the point. A little later Zeke Tegan picked up a Cadet fumble and, with splendid interference from Headley, ran over fifty yards for Prep's second touchdown! That ended the scoring for the day. Prep. won 15-6 and everybody was happy until the next game. Keystone sure beat Prep. 6-O was the score. Funny how we lost to those bums. Villanova Froshl They're Irishln says Yvinnie. Didn't mean a thing to Prep. Everybody had an off day and we beat the Green and lvhite 25-6. MacKenzie, N. Y.'s' pride and joy took it into their heads to play Prep. They were a scrappy bunch but that was all. Prep. forgot its manners and beat its guests 44-0. So ends the tale of the 1928 Season. ffl:-as ff Ninety-three
