JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET AND PROM '00 On Friday night, May 7, 1948, the Juniors and Seniors of A. H. S. had their big shin-dig of the year-the Junior-Senior banquet and prom. Both the banquet and the prom were planned by the Junior class. The theme was Dixie , The gymnasium was decorated in blue and white crepe paper streamers along the sides and the ceiling was made of woven blue and white strips. This made a very striking place. At the stage end of the gym, a miniature white plantation house was set up with a white fence and beautiful flowers and ferns set around it. At 7:00 p. m. there was a three-course meal which was served by boys, who were blacked up like Negro slaves. They were Don Mann, Gene Johnson, Don Hall, Ryland Webb, Stanley Webb, Bill Faith and Nelson Reiber, A program was given after the banquet. The welcome was given by Bill Sparks and the response by Richard Webb. Bob Adams, sang Humpty Dumpty Heart, and The Tennessee Waltz. Jerry Potts described the seniors as they seemed to him, June Spray sang You Were Meant For Me, Denny Holsen and Phyllis Parker tap-danced to Sidewalks of New York and Alexander's Ragtime Band. Carolyn Trimble, Edith Thompson, Wilma Hussey and Alicia Beasley sang Shortenin Bread, Ann Madden, Maxine Mulli- nax and Eileen Shepard sang In a Little Book Shop. Ann Madden sang Haunted Heart and Beth Wolfe gave an impersonation of Al J olson. Gifts were given to Denny Holsen and Phyllis Parker for their excellent tap-dancing. After the banquet everyone participated in the dancing. For the music Miss Yarber brought her player and records. Horns were given to all as a remembrance of the 1948 Junior- Senior Banquet and Prom.
