Letter to Future Seniors As each senior class passes through the doors of Allderdice, it leaves be- hind accomplishments, examples, contributions, and memories that may preserve many names in the history of the school. We. the January class of 1955, like to feel that we have done the same. Our members grew up in an Atomic Age. Atomic spirit as well as energy vibrated through our four years of high school. VVe were very aware of this. It affected our education, ideas, and especially our characters. We were faced with a future so broad in its horizon and so bewildering to eighteen-year-olds. who were soon to be the leaders of the country. This we sometimes, perhaps too often, used as an excuse for our actions. VVe had a great passion for rhythm. speed. jazz, and sensationalism. All these were a release for our energy, often a rebellion against the restrictions of society. The older generation labeled us crazy mixed-up kids. VVe were no more mixed-up than those seniors before us who had life and its responsi- bilities thrust at them when they seemed to have just begun to anchor both feet to the ground. Our times were marked by television, cinerama motion pictures, stereo- phonic sound. iet planes, hydrogen and atomic bombs, war, hot rods, and high fashion. Seniors could be found gathered at the still popular drug stores. dis- cussing anything from Korea. McCarthy. and Russia. to football scores. .Nudrey Hepburn. and Marlon Brando. Perhaps we were radical at times, we were out to make a name for our- selves-to Know Something. Do Something, lie Something. Our only hope is that posterity will look back at us and realize the many good examples we have set, and be the better for them. Ax.. V- -. , in . I, -i' ' ,fl 'v J 1' ' L N l lvl fi - W Q !!
