Many productions were presented by this department. The annual variety show Peak Night was staged in February. They also produced their well received version of Barefoot in the Park as well as The Curious Savage . ff maginen . . . rt Department The art department rarely receives credit for the fine work they do. This year much of their creations went virtually unnoticed, but for those who noticed it the artwork of these classes is excellent. Under the guidance of Mr. Lee and Mr. Johnon. students learn the major concepts of art. from basic patterns to complex designs. They also go on field trips to view the different art styles of the area. Student Eu sou do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, com uma populacao de 5,000.000. e eu estou muito feliz de estar aqui como a primeira esturante do YFUlYouth For Understandingl aqui em Alisal High School. Meu Pai ensinou Portugues em West Point. mas agora ele esta trabahando como Editor Associado de um jornal publicado para promover o interesse pelo Brasil na America. Embora minha mae tenha siro professora de Ingles ela agora trabalha como dona-de casa. Rio de Janeiro e uma cirade industrial e turistica no verao. Ainda tenho um ano e meio para me graduar no meu pais. Na minha escola nao poremos escolher as materias como nos poremos escolhe aqui em Alisal. Estou certa de que esta foi amaior experiencia da minha vida, conhecendo gente nova, aprendendo sua maneira de viver e sua cultura. Minha familia hospedeira ten sido maravilhosa para mim em todos os sentidos na minh temporado aqui em Salinas. Eq espero que voces tenham a oportunidade de visiar meu pais algum ria. por gue foi um prazer para mim conhecer todos voces aqui em Alisal High School. I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. which has a population of five million. I am very happy to be here as the first Y.F.U. lYouth For Understandingl student at Alisal High School. My Father taught Portuguese at West Point but now he is working as an Associate Editor of a Brazilian newspaper published to promote the interest of Brazil in the United States. Although my Mother was an English teacher. she is now retired and is a housewife. Rio de Janeiro is an industrial city and in the summertime. is a tourist city. l have to complete one and a half more years of school in order to graduate in my country, In my school we cannot choose the subjects we take. as we can here at Alisal. I am sure that the best experience I have ever had in my life is meeting other people and learning about their way of life and culture. My host family has been marvelous in so many ways during my stay here in Salinas.
