65 awe You Ever Been ellown . . . Vocal Department This year was a virtual success as Alisal's vocal orgnizaions ran true to form and kept the school's tradition lor excellent music. Miss Helsby was exhuberant in her praise for the vocal groups and was proud of all involved. The vocalists presented Christmas and Spring concerts for the enjoyment of the school and also participated in a valley-wide concert at Hartnell. They were rewarded well as they journeyed to San Francisco to attend the opera Madame Butterfly. l just have to say l love you in a song. This group performed at many activities, as well as for the pre-high schoolers throughout the county. They also displayed their talents in shows at the Salinas Golf and Country Club and the Masonic Temple. Officers were Richard Briggs, president: Mark Deome, vice-president. To raise money for their activities they held their annual pancake breakfast, two glass recycling workdays and a candy sale. After they had collected the necessary funds, the embarked to various competitions at Merced, Gilroy, Santa Cruz. Santa Ana, Long Beach and San Mateo. They also entered the Colmo Del Rodeo parade and the San Juan Bautista parade. Officers for the band were: President, Doug Gray, Vice-President, Carol Hale, Secretary. Gloria Domaloag and Treasurer.
