However, individual performances brightened the otherwise uneventful year. 'The Trojan mermen were led by two top swimmers. Richard Briggs and Kevin Ryburn, Briggs swam the breastroke in one of the fastest times in the league, while Ryburn paced the squad in the freestyle. Although consisting of only thirteen members, Alisal's swim squad did perform commendably against most of the season's opposition. QW? Consisting largely of some highly talented freshmen, as well as returning sophomores from last year's squad, the team overcame the shadow of inexperience. which frequently haunts novice athletes, to present themselves proudly against all opposition. Coaches Favero and Allan shared high praise for the following athletes in their specialties: Joe Taylan. long and triple jump. and 220 yard dash: Dennis Agpaoa, hurdles: Tito Messerli, pole vault. and William Lee. 100 yard dash. With all of last year's Iettermen returning. Coach John Deaver's squad boasted a powerful roster of skilled players. Paced by sophomore Lance Osborn and senior Jim Sasules, the tennis team bowed to Aptos and then smashed San Lorenzo Valley to commence their season.
