24 unior orsity Basketball earm eale n eague Ia Coach Art GiIbert's junior varsity basketball squad couIdn't find the winning combination as they struggled to a 4-20 overall record, 2- 12 in league. Coach Gilbert attributed his team's troubles to the lack of both height and experience. The team did boast two talented guards, Tony Rimando and Tony Ceralde. Rimando led the team in scoring while Ceralde used his shooting and quickness to the fullest extent. Two other players were cited as commendable by Coach Gilbert. They were Danny Comacho and Mike Grice. These two players contributed excellent defense and hot-shooting spurts to the team throughout the season. Also named for their play were Pat Williams, Curtis Stackpole and Scott Thomas. .iii A unds Sify. v 1 ,L Front ll-rl: P. Williams, T. Rimando, T. Ceralde. J, West, D. Comacho. Back: J. Shum Mgr. C. fresh-Soplw angers Promising for future Coach Al Garner's frosh-soph basketball squad finished in the same manner as their varsity and junior varsity counterparts as they underwent a lackluster year to conclude their season with four wins against fifteen losses. Their league log ended at 2-12. Considering there were only four sophomores on the team. the future Trojans did a commendable job the entire season. The young squad was led by the guard tandem of Homer Hernandez and Willie Cuellg, These two ballhawks proved to be a threat to any tearn during the season. Rey Nicanor and Bruce Holt filled in the forward positions. while Ricky Alvarez started at center. Credited as valuable substitutes were Robert Sides and mid-season recruit John Dew. Sides and Dew contributed heavily in the rebounding department and occasionally exploded for high-scoring nights. With almost all players as possible returnees, the winning tradition is sure to return to the ranks of AIisal's basketball squads of Freshmen and Sophomores. S-.iff -'T mlillle u .
