The D's waded through their opposition to finish with a 7-1 won-loss record, losing only to North Salinas. Little Homer Hernandez. a quick and skillful player, led the D's in scoring. and was cited by Coach Gilbert as the team captain and MVP. He had a fine supporting cast in Art Pena, Dennis Agpoa. ' QAB' carriers Build foundation Alisal's 1974 Cross Country team went through another year of rebuilding. Wins for the team did not come easily or frequently, but their season was highlighted by some outstanding individual performances. Though most of the meets ended in losses. sparkling runs by Mike Terry, Bruce Victorine. Mel Motogawa, and John Nelson aided in keeping the score close. ln his first year of coaching. Gerald Reguera finely mentored the young squad. He tabbed Mike Terry as the most valuable asset to the team. with John Nelson the most inspirational. and Johnny Villegas the most improved runner. Coach Gilbert credited Tony Ceralde as the C captain and MVP and also the leading point-maker for the Troyers. Also playing superbly to support the team's cause were Rey Nicanor.
