lmior Varsity Iough n rid Iron la The Junior Varsity football team, facing the same amount of misfortune as their varsity counterparts, completed their season with a 2-7 won-loss record. Playing efficiently and effectively, the JV's lost one nail-biter after another. and five of their losses came by margins of four points or less. Coaches Romero and Favero, though disappointed with the team's record, praised the team for their tough competitive play. especially in the latter part of the season. They were particularly pleased with the squad's performances against Monterey and Seaside. Although both games resulted in losses, the JV's exhibited impressive play in both contests. The offensive standout was Elias Rivera, whose electrifying long breakaway runs dazzled the crowds in many games. Darrell Friddle was declared the outstanding lineman. Coaches Deaver and 'Rice commented that they were impressed by the immense talent of the freshmen and both agreed that these players will be heard from as varsity players in the next few years.
